Breakfast was perfect: cooked English b’fast and continental plus plenty of fruit and yogurt.
Position of room was overlooking the courtyard surrounding a fountain and pond. There was seating with cushions where you could wait for your friends to join you. The hotel was just on the outskirts of Winchelsea so it was convenient for travel to different places. Plenty of parking. The staff were excellent, efficient and friendly. What more could you want!

The hotel was fantastic! From the moment we arrived we were treated by friendly staff. We were very looked after & made to feel at home. The hotel had so much history we really enjoyed it especially a tour of the rooms & cellar. The food was delicious. The room super clean but our favourite thing was how lovely the staff were!
The sand between your toes. Sky and beach as far as your eyes can see. Wonderful food made with love. Deeply comfortable beds in beautifully thought out bedrooms. Daily yoga and wellness classes.

I like the quirkiness of the rooms , the deep big bath , the tea box was very cute plus there was cafetiere coffee ☕️. The bed was super comfy . The rooms had a very warm homely feel .

The question as put means our answer is rather misleading.
The question as put means our answer is rather misleading. We did not have time to explore Winchelsea as we would have liked, but spent much of our time in Rye, a quarter-hour drive away and with enough to keep us busy ind interested for two days. We only scratched the surface of the possibilities of the wider area. In Rye, park as soon as you can in any of the car-parks at the foot of the hill and walk. There is masses to see, but the one-way system within the town can be a nightmare to the unwary.

Beautiful, peaceful, historic town with strong local community feel, excellent to combine with exploring the rest of the area (Rye, Dungeness etc). Lovely place to spend a few hours walking around, enjoying the view over the surrounding countryside.
Schedule visit with a date the cellar tours are on- we only found out about these after we visited!

Small village of houses but beautiful one pub, one corner shop .
Great stop point to venture to beaches, Rye, battle and surrounding areas which have lots of pubs and cafes
Is also suitable for relaxing rest
A warm welcome on arrival. Such a quaint place to stay, with beautiful gardens to sit in and listen to the birds singing. Parking available on site. Short walk to the nearest pub serving food and drink all day. There is an honesty bar for those who want drinks in the hotel. Full English Breakfast was lovely. The bed we had was amazingly comfortable and would come back again just to get a decent nights sleep in a comfy bed, one of the best beds we’ve ever stayed in! Fantastic power shower and loads of fresh towels provided.
Beautiful well equipped caravan ,with veranda ,perfect for our beagle ,could go outside safely ,location was good ,lovely quiet pitch ,parking no problem ,got space in car park ,quite close to van ,less than 10 mins walk to winchelsea beach ,good site ,shops just outside ,pizza /kebab co op ,and a pub ,lovely listening to the storm ,and rain on the caravan ,Tv ,stereo etc.,two bathrooms. Our hosts were friendly and welcoming. We had a bedroom, bathroom and living room with a TV to our selves. The bed was comfortable and our bedroom was tastefully decorated. Breakfast was the continental variety, with plenty of fruit and croissants. The rooms were scrupulously clean. The Gem made a great place to set up base and explore. We visited Rye, the nature reserve and Winchelsea.
The property itself and the surrounding area were beautiful! The rooms were well equipped, clean, spacious, airy and the beds were comfy! Kate was so friendly, informative, kind and helpful. We were 4 friends meeting up to celebrate our 60th birthdays and we couldn't have chosen a better property and location- we visited winchelsea, rye and hastings- wonderful, especially loved the pier!
Proper mugs in the room for your coffee instead of stupid little cups as is the norm, also USB charging sockets in the room. Little things that make such a difference. Winchelsea Lodge has a wonderful atmosphere and the staff were friendly and attentive and clearly enjoy working there as a team. The manager/owner was always visible and mucking in with the work and was very engaging.
Caroline was extremely welcoming and helpful, even before we arrived
The apartment was placed in a beautiful setting, very spacious and lovely decor. There was a large, garden and wood fired hot tub.
Location was great for visiting Rye and Hastings and Winchelsea beach was only a few minutes drive.
Would highly recommend and look forward to staying again.
location amazing if you looking country view stay , BEST Breakfast i ever had ( and i love my breakfast) , wifi a little week but i am guessing due location. 15 min drive ( easy) to Camber sands , you will pass by Rye, Co-op shop is towards Winchelsea beach ( stones beach) .
The cottage is lovely. Pretty from the outside. Winchelsea is stunning.
The photos do not do the place justice.
Very spacious, well equipped and comfortable.
The beds were comfy. Bathroom fine.
Garden looked lovely, would be great in the summer.
Definitely recommend 🙂
Caravan was clean, spacious and equipped with everything we needed. We didn’t use any of the park facilities, but there was a fish and chip shop and a Co-Op next to the entrance. Pebbly beach nearby and Camber Sands only 20mins away.
Quaint little cottage but with all mod cons. Winchelsea Town is just picture perfect. It has a very good village shop and pub literally just steps away. We had a lovely few days. Plenty to see in the area. Highly recommend it.
The room was comfortable. We loved the balcony in Room 17 and the telescope that was provided for us to look at the wildlife.
The staff were very friendly, especially the young lady who welcomed us to the hotel at Reception.
Private lounge facility with the bedroom - like a suite, meant very comfortable. Substantial breakfast, all delicious. Friendly host and off road parking. Quiet with good views, but Winchelsea within walking distance.
