Our experience at Hana Lodge was absolutely incredible, from the fabulous staff and personalised customer service they offer to our gorgeous room and facilities available to us.
The cleanliness was impeccable throughout and the in house dining experience was divine.

Staff was very helpful when we asked last minute to upgrade the room and that only cost us 50 NZ for the two nights. The room was perfect and teas and coffee were available in the room. Everything was new and very clean, the place was new and we just loved our stay, everything was perfect

A Volcanic Land of Wonders
Rotorua is living proof of the magnificent, and sometimes mind-boggling, might of nature. Smoking hot springs, bubbling mud pools and fast-spouting geysers give the surrounding landscape an almost other-worldly feel.
This New Zealand city sits in the Waimangu Volcanic Valley, the world’s newest geothermal hotspot. It was created after the 1886 eruption that covered Te Wairoa Buried Village, between 2 of many lakes gracing this fertile terrain. By Lake Rotorua’s shores is the luxurious Polynesian Spa with its thermal pools. Just behind in Government Gardens are the city’s best cultural offerings: the Arts Village, Tamaki Maori Village and Rotorua Museum, in an elegant former bath house.
Native animals roam in Rainbow Springs Kiwi Wildlife Park below Mount Ngongotaha, accessible via the Skyline cable car. The views while ascending make it obvious why this is called the Bay of Plenty. Tikitere Thermal Park on the opposite side of the lake is known as Hell’s Gate, but as long as you can ignore the sulphuric smell, the spas are simply heavenly.
More springs are in Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve, whose surrounding forest is popular for mountain biking, and Wai-O-Tapu where the Champagne Pool is a striking mix of green and orange.
Booking.com’s accommodation range is as diverse as the scenery, encompassing luxury hotels, cheap hostels and motels near Rotorua Airport.

This beautiful town has a wealth of things to do, sights to see and the people are friendly and engaging.
Lots of things to interest most if not everyone.
Ranging from adventure activities, to beautiful sights, thermal pools and spas to relax in and cultural/historical enrichment around every corner. A real treat

So much to do!
So much to do! It's become the Queenstown of the north island - lots of adventure activities. We did spend a fair bit of money, but we also had a great time, they just need some more good quality restaurants, and better coffee in the township - the best we found was out in the suburbs.
I loved our time there, especially the mountain biking - so fun. People were all friendly and helpful too. Def a gret place to visit, esp if you have tweens / bigger kids.

Rotorua was a great place to visit.
Rotorua was a great place to visit. Mitai Village, Hot beach, waimangu volcano were all interesting places to visit. If you like to hike, the 9 mile hike to hot beach and the hiking trails in the Mokaihaha Ecological area are both great hikes .
Just don't stay at AWA hotel.

As we were only doing a two day stop over to catch up with family and friends, on our way to a wedding, it was just enough to get us time to do these visits and still have time for ourselves. As were not "exploring Rotorua" we did not need extra time. Would recommend at least 4 - 5 days if you are new to the place and want to do all those sights, that Rotorua has to offer.

Rotorua is a nice clean town with plenty of general shopping available. I felt that the tourist attraction were overpriced, but everything was well organized. The vulcanic activities are quite varied and unique.

The accommodation ideal for 3 adults with separate bedrooms:...
The accommodation ideal for 3 adults with separate bedrooms: 1 with a double and a single bed - the other with a double bed, extremely comfortable. staff welcoming, 3 tv's. Room service breakfast which we liked and a the restaurant had a good evening menu selection. we had a jacuzzi and use of the spa bath and whilst the swimming pool was a bit limited for size and depth it was very relaxing. the Pitch and putt was fun and the games room ample size, cooling / relaxing 10 minute walk around the stream was refreshing. the staff are brilliant and i could not fault them - well done
Having a big spa bath was great. The whole family loved using it and it created some family time together. The rooms were well appointed and clean. It was surprising quiet considering the main road was close by. The Hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful and when we asked to stay another night, they were accommodating and nothing seemed a bother. It was also nice to get a decent bottle of milk, not the little sachets of milk that some motels/hotels give.
This place was great... We had a large family room with two beds on a mezzanine level.. It was very clean, spacious, and well equipped. It's in a good location and had free parking for our rental car. The big hot tub in the room was awesome. It was great to relax in after a tiring day out.
I preferred this place to most of the 5 star city hotels I've been in recently.
I'd certainly go back and am happy to recommend it.
Very close to Rotorua lakefront, very walkable. Nice mineral soaking pools. Very eco-friendly practices - loved it! Best of all, the extremely, friendly, helpful and responsive staff. Shoutout to Chloe and Poppy who helped with early checkin, calling airport for lost water bottle, booking canopy tour, suggesting restaurants for vegetarians… they were so friendly and helpful. 5 stars and beyond!!
Such a big house, lots of space for the family to spread out and have their own space….important after sharing rooms in hotels before this stop on our holiday. It was close to everything. The host made check in seamless. The little things like heaps of dishwashing liquid and laundry detergent helped out too! The kitschy decor was adorable and the kids loved it!
Clean and good motel - Price we stayed was also not expensive -
We had nice little studios with wooden decor which also felt very warm and nice --parking was very easy right outside the room - everything was great including the location as many shops and restaurants nearby
My family and kids all loved our stay in Routoura and In Tasman holiday park
I loved that the host put the heat pump on for us before we arrived. We got to Rotorua late as we flown up from Dunedin. Everything went so smoothly no complicated situations. My mother passed away and our family home already had visitors from overseas. I was so happy with the Airbnb me and my family stayed in it was close to my mums house.
BRUCE! Bruce at the front desk is the best part of this hotel. He is warm, friendly and engaging. He knows more about world affairs than most people from our own country. The room did have a tiny kitchenette and that part was amply supplied. Within walking distance to downtown Rotorua and the area's restaurants, shops and grocery stores.
We enjoyed a short weekend break with the extended family. The house was easily accessible from the main road.
It is located in a quiet neighbourhood and had brilliant views overlooking Rotorua Lake. The view at sunset is exceptional.
The kids had a great time playing in the yard and enjoyed the heated spa.
-Very family orientated
-staff always on hand and ready to be of service
-Had lots of useful information regarding nearby activities and things open on Christmas Day in the area
-Had all the necessary facilities that on a rainy day it was perfectly fine to stay at the hotel with children
Location was great. They allowed us to park our trailer there. They upgraded us to a poolside cabin, which was lovely! Shower water pressure was strong- so unusual in most hotels and motels etc. friendly staff at reception. Excellent kitchen in the unit. Clean and plenty of room!
Great location, very family friendly, staff were super helpful went out of their way to help, value for money. This is by far our fav for family budget accommodation in rotorua and we have tried a few. Those alpacas how can you go past them!
My favourite aspects of the Novotel Rotorua are the location and breakfast. Both are ideal I think. The room is good - nothing unusually good for a nice hotel, but good. Everything was there, it all worked and it was clean and tidy.
My husband left his charger in the room. I tried to inform the hotel and told them if they can set it aside when we come back from our trip outside rotorua. And they found it and got it after few days.
Great communication with staff going out of their way to accommodate us for an extra night.
Awsome family hotel - especially enjoyed the pool.
Breakfast was excellent.
Hotel good but evening buffet meal was very poor. Not what was shown on the menu and vegetables were hard. Also was told to be there by 6 and we didn't eat until 6:40
