Very close to the ferry port if you're going to the Belize Islands. Nice room with sea view. Nice pool. Drinking water left in the room and staff were happy to refill the bottle. Promenade walk is lovely along the seafront and goes right outside.

The room was spacious and clean and the staff made every possible effort to communicate with me even though they spoke very lil English.

We liked the Hotel Rio for it's location close to the Belize border, as we were crossing into Belize the next morning. The border is only a coiuple of minutes drive away. Secure parking, a small swimming pool, nice yard and quiet location. The bed was comfortable, shower was good, and the hotel was easy to find.

It's very peaceful, each room has enough privacy so you don't feel like you're constantly bumping into other tourists. They also do morning yoga classes, which was great to start the day.

New bungalows, nicely decorated, in a very beautiful location, close to the water. As it is further from the Bacalar town, it is best to have a car, so that you can drive to the city for food.
