I could honestly write a 10-page article in praise of Shanuo. Firstly, yes. It’s every bit as beautiful as the pictures would have you believe. (With that said, there’s no way to truly capture the beauty of this place through a camera lens. You just have to go there to see that for yourself). Surrounded by coconut trees and brightly coloured tropical flowers, the bungalows overlook the Indian Ocean - a morning dip is a must! My room was clean and comfortable and I was provided with everything I might need during my stay. Although Shanuo doesn’t have its own restaurant, I can honestly say this has no impact on your stay at all. The breakfasts are generous and Shanuo provides drinks and snacks (at a small fee) if you’re feeling peckish. There are several neighbouring properties along the beach with restaurants. I promise you won’t go hungry! Secondly, the staff are incredibly accommodating and helpful, and you’re guaranteed to be met with a friendly smile and an enthusiastic “Jambo” 100% of the time. If you need anything, you just need to look up and someone is there to assist. A big thank you to everyone at Shanuo, but especially to Na who brought my breakfast every morning and who I had lovely chats with, to Daniel who cut copious amounts of fresh aloe vera to tend my sun burn, and of course to the manager, Gillian, who is energetic, friendly and builds meaningful connections with her guests which she uses to tailor her travel tips especially to your needs. This team creates an atmosphere that truly makes you feel as though you’re ‘coming home’. There’s so much more that I could say, but anyone reading this will begin to think I’m exaggerating. I’m really not. Do yourself a favour and just book! I’ll certainly be coming back here on my next Zanzibar adventure.

This was our absolute favourite place to stay during our 2 weeks long honeymoon! Michamwi Kae is ideal for people who are seeking the luxury but the unbeaten paths, with relaxed local atmosphere and kind people. And the beach is the most beautiful here too, white powder sand, vibrant blue water without waves. We also observed that local people (including our hosts) are the most adorable in Michamwi. So romantic place! 😍

This small resort with about 20 rooms was recently renovated. ( OBS the photos at Booking.com show the rooms before the renovation!) The rooms were nicely decorated and the beds comfortable. We were even offered the spacious bridal suite for our 9 days stay; it had a balcony with a view of the Michamvi bay. What a nice surprise! The food is good and varied, and the three course dinners (with both fish, meat and vegetarian options) are served at different locations every night. The female manager Shirley did an excellent job, and she was supported by a whole team of pleasant and service oriented staff members.

Exceptional place to stay. The facilities - swimming pool, bar and restaurant were all first class. Food was delicious. Best of all was the wonderful welcome and hospitality shown by the fantastic owners Petra and Thomas. Ramona is a warm, wonderful & thoughtful host. The bungalow comfortable & little kitchen ideal for breakfasts & snacks. The beautiful beach is only a few minutes walk. We had a great stay at Baladin. The accommodations are beautiful and well maintained with a nice outdoor bathroom. Nicole and Rachid are great and welcoming hosts. They are very accommodating. We loved the activities proposed by the hotel and overall how they arranged the space makes the place feel like heaven. Many different beautiful spots to lay down in the sun and in the shadow, it’s very well maintained and clean. The food menu shows a lot of variety between local dishes and international options. Overall - a small paradise!

Very spacious apartment, super clean with all comforts. Power outlets everywhere, very good internet. And of course a perfect view! Staff is very helpful and friendly all time. The owners are mostly on site, which is great as all questions can be addressed directly. Joop is helping with everything, organisation of tours, medical help, taxi etc. During my stay of 16 days I experienced a perfect holiday in a very familiar environment. I will definitely come back! Many thanks for this relaxing stay!

We had the best time staying at Qambani with out 2 kids (2,5y and 4,5y)! Every single individual working there was absolutely exceptional - always so kind, helpful and warm. They helped us organize all our activities and transfers and they prepared such special bday celebration for me. The property is beautiful, very relaxing and peaceful. Food is delicious. We had a wonderful 7-night stay, absolutely an Excellent place to feel Zanzibar. Everything was just perfect. The staff was helpful, the accommodation was beautiful and the breakfast was superb. It couldn't have been better. Will definitely come again to this place.

We had the pleasure to stay one week at the Castaway Villa. The complete team did an amazing job fulfilling the promise to provide a home far away from home and to go even beyond. Our holidays literally started the moment we got of the airport and ended when the driver dropped us. Everything in between was taken care of including organizing day trips. The facilities as well as the food are one of a kind and if you are looking for top of the notch service paired with pure privacy then this is your choice.
