Everything: Not only is the Paperbark Retreat a wonderful place to stay, it is the best place to be in the Cooktown region. Sue and Tony are excellent hosts. The breakfasts and dinners served in their great room with other guests are not to miss. We enjoyed the meals and participated in conversations with interesting people from other parts of the world. Forget the restaurants in town and stay here and dine with the hosts and other guests who will feel like family before the evening is over. The facilities and grounds are professionally designed, constructed, and maintained. They are quiet, open to nature, and private within your room. Yes, the rooms do include in-suite bathroom and shower facilities. It is a non-smoking property and the fresh-cut flowers offered an enticing smell when entering the room. Everything on the property is impeccably clean. Parking is open air, ample, and non-crowded. We only regret that we did not stay with Sue and Tony for more than the two nights we had with them.
