Very close to the airport and the taxi drivers know it. Secure car parking. Clean, functioning aircon and good breakfast. We have stayed here 3 times on our way to/from Natal airport and each time the hosts have been so accommodating especially as we arrive/leave in the middle of the night to catch flights.

Last week I had my wallet stolen in Salvador, including my bank card. Since then, I have been paying via app phone using my phone. My phone has been working fine with no issues and then all of a sudden, it turned off and would not turn back on. I left it on charge all night and woke up this morning with it still unable to turn on. This means I can no longer pay for anything whilst in brasil until I return to Rio and go to the apple phone shop. Currently I only have a laptop to communicate and I need help with transport to the airport, as I cannot call an uber or pay for a taxi. Fortunately, the hostel was extremely helpful with supporting my transport to the airport and providing as much advice as possible.

Location and Transport

Also known as ‘Natal International Airport’, São Gonçalo do Amarante is located 16 miles (25 kilometres) from the centre of Natal. The best way to get between the airport and the city is by Trampolim da Vitória bus, which runs every 25 minutes between 04:30 and 00:00. A taxi will be a bit faster and cost around BRL 63.

My wife is Brazilian and I have visited Brazil many times...

My wife is Brazilian and I have visited Brazil many times including the North-East (Fortaleza, Recife, Salvador, Joao Pessoa, Ilheus), but, this was my first time here. As a beach holiday probably the best of those (although all good). Natal is a good sized city with a strong and important tourist sector so sophisticated options are available and the quality and range of food and drink available was metropolitan. That said tourists are mostly Brazilians (and Argentines) from the South. I didn't hear an English speaking voice in 10 days here. There is definitely lively nightlife for those who want it. But, you'll need to speak Portuguese, or have a good guide, to stay out of trouble and safe. Natal can be dangerous. The surrounding area has destinations for several day trips - "passeios" as they call them and Europeans and American's will find the prices cheap as they will for just about anything else too (food, drink, Ubers of which there are plenty and souvenirs).

the city of Natal spent a lot of money to dig and extend the beach. there is no more sand , it is feet hurting shells and stones. I can see the effect , not that many people at this time of year. and the agents pushing their umbrellas and space are aggressive and bothersome. SAD SAD sight of a once beautiful place.....You have to wear flip flops but the hard sand makes it worse to walk...SAD SAD SAD

Natal is a wonderful place to visit when you have children...

Natal is a wonderful place to visit when you have children or teenagers as it is full of activities for them and you. Great restaurants and so many places to visit nearby, packed with lakes, sand ski, zipwire, dunes and buggy, tricycle and lots of adventure to have!
