Situated on the edge of Emmen, a 9-minute drive from the centre of Lucerne, feRUS Hotel offers stylish rooms in a former factory building. Breakfast was very good All fresh and mostly local food. Bread was warm and eggs were from a local framer. Service was very friendly and helpful. Request for extra pillows was meet with immediate and cheerful assistance. Extra sparkling and still water provided at no charge in room. Dinner in the restaurant was very good. Parking was close, easy and free. It was an easy and free trip to downtown on the train or bus with tourist card provided from hotel. Took about 10-15 minutes.

The property was very clean and had updated appliances. No bad smell. The beds were comfortable. It sits in a nice and peaceful neighbourhood. The host was very kind and gave us valuable information for our very brief 2-day stay for sightseeing. In those 2 days we were able to see everything we needed to see on our own : Titlis, Jungfraujoch and Matterhorn. We would have spent almost $3000 on the tour agencies (as we have originally planned) had the host/owner not give us great information based on his personal knowledge and experience.

Fantastic city - great restaurants, plenty of wonderful historic sites, loved the public transportation options and ease of access to outlying areas. We felt safe and welcomed. We really loved the medieval wall with towers and the closeness of Mt. Rigi.

Beautiful city that caters very well for tourists. As an English speaker I had no issues with communication everywhere. We walked to most places and appreciated the general flatness of Lucerne (except for the climb up to the city wall and museum). From a culinary perspective you will not be disappointed with a wide variety of restaurants and cafes to choose from.

We were only there two days, and the first day we did a walking tour of the city and the second day was an outing to Mount Titlis. If we were there longer we would have done a boat trip round the lake and gone up Mount Pilatus.

Historic Luzern is so pretty with the Chapel Bridge and Christmas lights. It was also magical in the snow the next morning! Restaurants are plentiful and high quality. Our trip to Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald and Interlaken was lovely in the snow too.

This was my second time to come to Lucerne.
This was my second time to come to Lucerne. Loved it the first time but loved it even more the second time. The Christmas Market there has so much going on, it's not just food and shopping. There are traditional parades, characters, and music. It has so much more to see and experience than the one in Zurich. Also, there is lots to do in Lucerne besides the shopping. It was just a short walk to the train station and boat dock. We took the boat and then a train up to Riji - Queen of the Mountains. Breathtakingly beautiful. There is a hotel, spa and places to eat at the top of the mountain. Great food. Then took a train, a cable car, and a boat back to Lucerne. The cable car descended through the clouds and then the lake suddenly appeared, glittering like gold. Incredible views. A huge variety of restaurants. The fondue restaurant was one of our favorites. Eat outside or inside at many of the restaurants. Shopping everywhere. Beautiful old buildings. Lucerne is my favorite place in all of Switzerland. I'll be back in the spring!

Luzern is a small, cute and very walkable city with a medieval feel however I found it far too touristy for my taste and in a few hours, you’ve pretty much seen everything. It’s a great stopover if you’d like to visit nearby mountains such as Rigi or Pilatus, or take a scenic boat trip around the lake but that’s about it. There are quite a few museums as well but Basel definitely beats Luzern on this point. Restaurants are super expensive, though that was to be expected.
