Giljanes is a very special place, the only real hostel in Faroer and therefore a meeting place for the more adventurous and /or open (and budget) minded travellers from all over the world. You meet people from everywhere in the warm communal area (living room/kitchen). But you can find a quiet corner there if you wish too. You can spend the whole day here, which comes in handy in bad weather...not unusual in Faroer;). The kitchen has everything you need to prepare your meals. The rooms are small and basic, normal comfort for a hostel, but sheets and towels are provided. There are 4 showers and toilets and you can do and dry your laundry (may have to queue).. A few shelves in the (double) room and the bathroom to put some stuff on would be useful. There's no staff on site. But the owner, Kristjan, can always be reached by the free phone and makes sure he meets everyone daily to see if they need anything. And of course Felix the cat is always there to welcome you 🤗

Good location on the island - many points of interest can be easily reached; large TV (Samsung) with apps (Netflix, YouTube, etc.), overall comfortable bed, relatively nicely arranged interior. The apartment was pre-heated before our arrival - so this was great. The apartment has also large fridge, dishwasher and other kitchen amenities.
