The apartment was beautiful, well looked after, the cupboards were fully stocked with the essentials such as cooking oils, tea and coffee which was a lovely surprise. The host was very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The spa was extremely relaxing and quiet while we were there, so it was an amazing bonus.

We had an amazing time in Gibraltar for our wedding, it's such a lovely place, it's easy to get around with local buses and a lot is walkable too, there are so many nice areas, Ocean Village has a livelier atmosphere and loads of great restaurants to choose, Queensway Quay is stunning and some gorgeous restaurants, St Michael's cave where we got married is simply stunning!

Lovely town close to Gibraltar.
Lovely town close to Gibraltar. It was decent hotels, restaurants, beaches, good transport links, and a cute old town area.
I particularly liked La Casita (steak restaurant) and Tokyo Sushi Bar. The beach on the east (Playa del Castillo) was lovely with an amazing view of Gibraltar rock.

Algeciras has some beautiful parts, in the old city the Moorish architecture is really quite something. There are some rougher parts sure, as with any large port town. But I found it safe, the people friendly and the food was great, especially El Taller restaurant.
Nearby beach Playa el Rinconcillo was fine. But Algeciras isn't like some beautiful Mediterranean coasted resort destination, it's a fairly gritty Spanish port with some beautiful architecture and passable beaches, cheap and cheerful with easy access to TARIFA where you can get a ferry to Tangiers and visit nearby roman ruins or visit very nearby Gibraltar.

Alcaidesa is a pleasant little township on the coast.
Alcaidesa is a pleasant little township on the coast. There is a small plaza and limited hospitality area with 3-4 good cafes and restaurants. Not expensive, mostly locals and ex-pats around, everyone friendly. Love the 2 beach bars, with good food and drinks and superb views. The beach is clean and good for children and swimming, etc. Need a car to explore area, very limited bus service. Local golf courses available, and Sotogrande with high class golf and marinas, Gibraltar for shopping and sightseeing within 30 minute drive, cities of southern Spain not far away. Much of the (newer) holiday apartment acommodation a good 15-20 min walk from the village. Good for a few days, or more if planning to use as a base for the area.

Amazing place to visit, so much history and such welcoming people. The place is small and compact but the public transport makes everything easily accessible, very wll organised and the bus drivers are so helpful. Pleanty of places to eat such a wide variety of fantastic food, something fir everyone. Obviously the nature reserve on the rock is must visit, so much to see up there, would be nice if they offered multi day tickets, I don't think you can see it all properly in one day. I will be back to see some more soon.

It’s a strange but quirky place.
It’s a strange but quirky place. A lot of it is a bit rundown but it’s improving and there’s very pleasant places. V good beaches.
It’s not touristy at all but still has many restaurants and bars.
Very different from the rest of the del Sol. Don’t come here if you’re a snob or like the Marbella type resorts.

It is a great place to get ferries to Morocco or to get the shuttle to Tarifa to do the same.
I have been before and found it to be a pleasant small town with a good patisserie/bakery that had Moroccan foods (briouwats, mini pastilla, etc).
The reason for the 'average' rating of the town stems from the fact that the place I booked was unhelpful and would not allow me to access the property at midnight even though I had paid in advance. As a result I was stranded and had to wander about at night, sleep on a too short stone bench and cat nap until the FRS ticket offices opened.
Algeciras is reasonably easy to navigate on foot. There are some cafés by the central market that open early for the traders. There is also a Carrefour express in the area between the train Station and the port with a full selection of goods.
I cannot rate 'Conv3nient R00ms - F3rry, Tr@in & Bus $tation' as I was not allowed entry to the property at midnight (late trains, missed connections) having paid for in advance my room. Unfortunately the proprietor was not helpful and I was left wandering the streets all night as not other hostals were open. A cold night with a very short stone bench! (Perhaps this is a rating?) I would avoid this place on my next visit and look for a better rated (more expensive hostal/hotel.
I would love to return yet again to Algeciras under better conditions and have an actual 'holiday there, rather than using it merely as a travel interchange. The town looks lovely and no doubt has things to offer away from the mildly salubrious Tran Station/Port area.

Alcaidesa is lovely, peaceful and has a great beach.
Alcaidesa is lovely, peaceful and has a great beach. The property Seaviews that we stayed at, was miss sold on the website! Claiming it has a hot tub, which was one of the key factors in our booking. The hot tub had been removed and after speaking to the host, she said it was only seasonal!!!! Which was a lie because after complaining again when I got home she said it was removed for our own safety because of weather conditions!! They weather was great apart from a couple of small showers. Don’t stay at any properly run by these hosts.

Just after Christmas for two weeks.
Just after Christmas for two weeks. Locals hostile to British as many Spanish snack bars and restaurants we wanted to eat lunch at said RESERVA when near empty. Area run-down and apart from one Mall some distance away this is a typical shabby Spanish town with one grotty museum.
Only nice aspect was UK Gibraltar which was well worth visiting and we should have booked a Gibraltar hotel and not wasted our money on the Spanish...... as they don't deserve it.
If you're looking for a decent experience go to Malaga or nearby and avoid La Linea as poor value for money and crap experience. I am disabled and in our 70's and we found this one of our worst holiday experiences and poor value for decades of world travel.
