Compact rooms but the hotel has everything one might need, including a free laundry & drying room with detergents, a lounge with coffee, tea, water dispensers and microwaves for own food if desired. The hotel and the rooms were very clean. Many cafeterias and vegetarian/vegan restaurants right in the vicinity. Close to the brown metro line that takes you directly to TSA, or other connecting metro lines.Warmly recommend!

Getting around is a doddle with the efficient public transport system and you can easily find something to your taste to eat or drink at every 10 metres or so.

The highlight of my trip was my morning stroll by the riverside. It was a peaceful Sunday morning. The weather was cool and it was not that sunny. In contrast with the hustle and bustle of the previous Saturday evening (which was also a sight to behold), there were not a lot of people at the plaza and the park apart from some joggers and men fishing in the river.
I culminated my stroll with a visit to one of the popular eateries in the neighbourhood serving authentic a-gei (淡水老牌阿給 創始店, No. 6之1號, Zhenli St, Tamsui District, New Taipei City, Taiwan 251). This was one of the reasons I wanted to visit Tamsui. I ordered a-gei with a side of fish ball soup. And it did not disappoint. The a-gei was very filling and flavourful. It reminded me of sotanghon I used to eat back home. The fish balls, on the other hand, were packed with filling and immersed in a hot peppery soup.
I was looking for a relaxing/restful experience for my weekend trip. I definitely got that during my stay in Tamsui.

Spent a couple of trips x couple of nights stationed at Linkou - a lovely residential estate great for shopping and dining. Easy access by MRT and bus to other parts (e.g. Guanyin Temple about 20mins away by bus). Good stopover before or after flight from Taoyuan Airport!

I really like Taiwan, such as fresh air, many famous parks, sidewalks for tourists, many public transportations such as MRT, TRA and buses, many Seven Eleven/ Family mart groceries, many night markets where tourists can enjoy local food, museums... For me, Taiwan is great.

More interesting if you wander up the back streets.The hotel staff didn’t know where a laundry was but found a laundromat 5 minutes walk away - turn right and walk up the hill - take the first lane on the right and its on the left - self service with washing and drying machines - new and clean.

Taibei is a vibrant Asian city, full of Chinese culture, amazing food, and a growing selection of artisanal bars. The many NIGHT MARKETS are such a special feature of the city, and are not to be missed.
Easy public transportation and access to taxis everywhere.
Choose carefully the time of year you go to Taibei: the summer is brutally hot, but end-October / early-November has PERFECT weather...not cold, not hot, and not overly raining.
Whatever you do, DO NOT MISS going to the Palace Museum which contains the very best artifacts from the imperial "Forbidden City" in Beijing which were brought to Taiwan in 1949!

I loved Tamsui, where the hotel is located. The old part of town was around the corner and 7 min. walk away is the long waterfront with hundreds of food stalls, restaurants and lots of people having a good time strolling, flying kites and eating delicious local foods.
The hotel was ok but dated. The mattresses were not comfortable and the air conditioner didn’t work.
