The best thing about our trip was the house where we stayed. Budget friendly home with great facilities. We checked in late at night,but still the owner's son was awake and he was giving instructions in a kind manner.

El Hakuba Ski Condos, situado a solo 3 minutos a pie de la estación JR Hakuba, ofrece apartamentos independientes con conexión WiFi gratuita, Apple TV, Netflix y vistas a la montaña. Modern facilities (washing machine+drier built in, humidifier, bidet toilets) were the best models we had throughout our 13 day stay in Japan staying in 5 different accommodations, including a 4 star hotel. The condo itself is older, however we absolutely loved it as it was so homey, meticulously arranged, sparkly clean and well taken care of by the owner, Bob. Kitchen was also well equipped and the five of us enjoyed cooking our meals there. Bob was already waiting for us as he let us check in early. It was a great first impression which carried on the next day when his lovely wife brought us apple cake baked using locally grown apple. What a thoughtful gesture- and it was a cherry on top of our stay in Hakuba. Communication was so easy and quick via booking dot com. I highly recommend staying here.

千本桜 Stay in an Old Sushi House está en Ueda y ofrece alojamiento a 24 km de Honmachi Machiyakan, a 43 km de Zoológico de Suzaka y a 43 km de Estación de Nagano. I would highly recommend this place! The owner responded quickly, and the instructions—both before and during our stay—were very clear. The house was spotless. We were even welcomed with birthday presents for our little daughter, which was such a lovely surprise! Part of the accommodation used to be a sushi bar, which made the place feel extra special. If I had to mention one downside, it would be that the living area is separate from the sleeping area—you need to walk outside to get from one part of the building to the other.

Host is friendly, responsive over WhatsApp, checks in to make sure we're ok, and is most happy to offer recommendations :) Location is near Matsumoto station, plenty of food options around especially if you're willing to walk. Matsumoto is a very quaint and pretty town, lovely place to walk around as well. Easy to travel to Kamikochi as well.
