Matraville Home Stay Tuk Tuk Lake Toba Samosir bevindt zich in Tuk Tuk, en heeft een tuin. Er is een terras en je kunt er gebruik van maken gratis WiFi en gratis privéparkeren. Our three-night stay at Matraville Homestay was a very welcome change-of-pace after jungle treks and volcano hikes in Bukit Lawang and Berestagi. Our unit was VERY large (it would have easily suited a family of four) and well-appointed with a TV, fridge, sink and kettle for use. It was also spread over two levels, with the downstairs serving as the entrance/living room area/kitchenette, and the bedroom and bathroom/separate shower area upstairs. BONUS(ES): the unit entrance featured a little patio with a table and chair where you could have an early-morning coffee or tea while facing the sunrise; the upstairs level also provided a small balcony area to take in the morning sun or evening dusk. While the room we chose was across the street from the water (a 90-second walk at most, down a couple of shallow flights of steps, and therefore didn’t provide a direct waterfront view), there are two rooms available in another portion of the property that face the water and are just steps from it. Our excellent Host, Dimmer, picked us up from the Tuk Tuk ferry landing (and can also drop you off when you depart) and will provide you with everything you might need to make your stay comfortable, including tips on places to eat or have coffee nearby and suggestions for what to do/see on Samosir Island. He will also provide scooters for daily/multi-day use for very reasonable rates.

Mila Homestay in Padang is gelegen op 10 km van Siti Nurbaya Bridge en biedt accommodatie met airconditioning, gratis WiFi, en toegang tot een terras. De jonge eigenaresse en gastvrouw Dila was fantastisch. Zo enthousiast en vriendelijk. Ze wil overal mee helpen. Bracht mij eerst met de scooter naar wat winkels en apotheek. Later met de auto naar de stad. Ondanks dat de locatie wat verder van de stad ligt kunnen we deze absoluut aanraden. Kamer is fijn met airco en ontbijt.

Sumatra Orangutan Discovery Villa heeft een tuin, een terras, een restaurant en een bar in Bukit Lawang. Gratis WiFi en roomservice worden verzorgd. There was nothing we didn’t like. Comfortable beds, beautifully decorated room, amazing tropical garden, delicious food in the restaurant, the well organised and executed overnight tour into the jungle (yes, we were lucky to see orangutans in the wild) But it is the people working at the Orangutan discovery villa that made our stay unforgettable - highly hospitable, accommodating, genuine in every way. If we are ever to go back to Bukit Lawang it will be the this place.

SeaGate Bungalows heeft een tuin, een privéstrand, een terras en een restaurant in Sabang. Seagate Bungalows are very new, located right by the water with beautiful views. Exceptional bathrooms and room facilities. The hosts (Borja and Yuyun) with their staff are very hands-on with any requests and queries, etc. They even arranged for snorkelling, dolphin watching trip and transport etc. The on-site restaurant serves good food and good service. Would definitely come and stay again, and recommend to friends and family.

I did the 2 day/1 night Trek. The 2 guides Rian and Santa were the best guides I’ve encountered anywhere in all my years of traveling. They were so kind, funny and thoughtful. The food on the trek was phenomenal and it really was a wonderful experience. The property is great, with a beautiful lush green garden.

The accommodation is in a wonderful location, on the edge of the village where it’s quieter, yet still just a ten-minute walk to the center. Beautiful views of the river and the jungle beyond, where macaques roam and even an orangutan made an appearance. The macaques occasionally ran across our roof and balcony — the kids were thrilled. We went on several treks with guides from this accommodation, and all of them were amazing. We saw 12 orangutans of all sizes, macaques, Thomas leaf monkeys, turtles, and even hornbills. For those interested in more unusual animals, I highly recommend the evening snake walk — it was simply incredible. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. We’re glad we chose Obiwan’s Indra Valley Inn for our stay in Bukit Lawang.

The people are what define a place. I felt completely at home during my entire stay at Nachelle’s. I arrived late, around 11.30 PM, and Mery kindly turned on the heater, even though it’s typically only operational until 10 PM. She also organized all the excursions I wanted to do in Berastagi. When I inquired about renting a flashlight for the hike because I didn’t bring one, she graciously lent me one. Her husband, Abdy, was incredibly friendly, welcoming and full of humor. Additionally the hike was quite educational as he shared interesting facts about volcanoes and some flora and fauna encountered along the way. Mery’s pizza is also a must-try!
