宿 ウラケラマ Urakerama ligt op 3 minuten lopen van Strand Maehama en 300 meter van Statue of Shiro, en is voorzien van kamers met airconditioning en een eigen badkamer in Aka. I loved how welcoming and hospitable the hosts were. I was picked up from Aka Port with my luggage and saved from a rain-soaked walk to the accommodation. Once settled, I was also given a lot of great advice to make the most of my time on the island, where to rent a bike, where to go for a drink in the evening, and the best beach to spot sea turtles. Not only was the place great, but the hosts made my time on the island even better. If I ever get the chance to go back, I'd happily stay here again.

We kregen een warm welkom bij aankomst. De kamer was fijn met een comfortabel bed. Het was handig/lekker om ontbijt te hebben, ook omdat je wat verder van het dorp af zit. Ook fijn om een wasmachine te kunnen gebruiken.

The stay was absolutely wonderful and the host made sure we had all we needed, from great food, to a special cake to celebrate our honeymoon. We are deeply grateful for this experience and are looking forward to staying here again in the future.

Kerama Backpackers ligt in Tokashiki, op 2,6 km van Strand van Tokashiku en 3,2 km van Teruyama Observatory. The owner is very helpful and will drive you to and from the beach every day as there is no beach close by the hostel. We got stranded on the island due to a typhoon and we were able to stay the extra night no problem, the owner was going to arrange private transport for us off the island if we got stuck another day. Would highly recommend. There is a really nice common area, kitchen, bathrooms, and showers.

Guesthouse Iyonchi ligt op het prachtige eiland Zamami, op 5 minuten lopen van de haven van Zamami. U wandelt in 15 minuten naar een strand. In de hele accommodatie is gratis WiFi beschikbaar. We loved Iyonchi guesthouse. It was the only hotel in Japan (we traveled in Japan for a month) which allowed us to check in early as the room was ready. The staff member attending us spoke good English and she explained how things work at the property and on the island. We were able to leave our luggage the next day and have a shower before we left the island which was really nice.

Hanamuro Inn Aka Island is gelegen in Zamami, op een paar minuten lopen van Strand Maehama en 4 minuten lopen van Statue of Shiro. We stayed at Hanamuro Inn for two nights and absolutely loved it. The inn is simple, clean, and full of charm. Just like the island itself. The owner is warm and welcoming, and the whole place had a laid-back, friendly vibe that made us feel right at home. Aka Island is small, quiet, and stunningly beautiful. You’re surrounded by turquoise water, white sand beaches, and a peaceful atmosphere that’s hard to find elsewhere. Around the inn, there are a few small restaurants and two little supermarkets. It is just enough to enjoy good local food without any stress. If you’re looking to unwind, swim, snorkel, or just take in the natural beauty, Hanamuro Inn is a perfect place to stay. We would absolutely come back. A lovely spot on a lovely little island.
