The free use of a bike just added to the experience as I rode around the lake and also to the grocery store and other places. The staff was also very kind and the breakfast was perfect. I highly recommend staying here.

We arrived late becasue of the bus, but the owner provided useful information for us and picked us up. The ownwe speaks really good English and easy to communicate with. They provided awesome vegan breakfast. One of the top meals we have had in Japan. Very beautiful and peaceful environments. And they have good onsen. We will definitely return again.

Great stay in Fujikawaguchiko! The staff are very responsive both online and in person (you can call staff using a button within the accommodation). Our room was spacious and the futons were comfortable. I liked the shared bath (you can lock the doors for privacy), which has 2 showers, faucets in the middle that you can fill a bucket with (very hot and cold water), and a big bath with hot water. The price was also excellent given that we went in mid-November when the foliage was beautiful. We especially liked that we could rent bikes from the property- 2 regular (500 yen each) and 2 electric (2,000 yen each) for the whole day. The owner personally informed us about each of the features on the property and was kind enough to give us a ride back to Kawaguchico station before our bus left. The location is good, in a residential area not too far from a pretty area of the lake, 7 min walk from 7/11 and some of the most local restaurants I've been to (the owner will inform you about them when you get there). Overall, the attention to detail and making us feel welcome was fantastic- I'd stay here again!

Renovated in September 2018, Guesthouseほのぼの offers an accommodation with free WiFi in Fujikawaguchiko, 1.3 km from Lake Kawaguchi. Best experience so far on my travels through Japan. The host was incredibly kind, the facilities were clean and you could see the overall effort that they put into this guesthouse. I didn’t use the kitchen but it was filly equipped. There are also a lot of restaurants and cafés really close. He even drove me to the train station in the morning because it was raining. I’ll stay again on my next trip!
