Kumiko helped me find places to eat vegetarian, brought me to the local English club, upgraded me to a solo room as I was the only female traveller in the dorm, and spent time with us playing games. The guesthouse is also super conveniently located diagonally from the station, but there is no noise. A super nice experience !

El lugar es precioso, tiene una atmósfera muy especial que invita a la calma, que es justo lo que necesitábamos después de Tokio. Tiene dos onsen privados que se pueden usar sin reservar, y dónde no importa si tienes tatuajes. Son maravillosos. El desayuno era exquisito, se reserva previamente la noche anterior, y las habitaciones son muy amplias, parece un hotel occidental. La ubicación es muy buena para las atracciones principales de Nikko y para lo demás la estación de bus está muy cerca. Superó ampliamente nuestras expectativas, sin duda si vuelvo a Nikko me quedaría con ellos.

A traditional home situated in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood about 10 minutes away from train station. There’s a communal kitchen and living room for use as well as a private onsen that you can reserve. Hiro, the host, is very accommodating and will provide rides when needed. His English is really good and his sense of humour even better. His knowledge of the area and itinerary suggestions worked very well for us. We’d highly recommend the local izakaya 800m from his place.

Mariko's kindness is absolutely outstanding, even for Japanese standards. She is one of the best, if not the best host we have ever had the luck to meet. She even prepared a delicious breakfast for us and drove us to the train station because we were in a bit of a hurry. The lodging is simple yet lovely, cozy, in a great location and super clean. So top choice, you won't regret it!

The host is very generous and kind. She prepared us an amazingly delicious huge portion of breakfast. She even gave each of us her hand folded origami with written well wishes to us. She makes us feel like home.

Quiet place in the woods, not too far from the main road. Can be reached with a bus with 15 min walking from the closest stop, or by car (parking is available for free). Izumi-san is an excellent host. We really enjoyed our stay and will be back for sure!
