This is a fantastic bungalow that offers great views of volcano Arenal and the lake. The location is great as it is outside of a quiet village and very tranquil. The bungalow is large and conveniently furnished.
The owners are very friendly. We enjoyed the daily breakfast on the big terrace of the restaurant. There are several breakfast options and the Costa Rican breakfast was sensational. We would definitely book this place again.
There are small shops and restaurants in the surrounding area.

We have been blown away by their masseur, we got one our best massage experiences ever.
Our villa was huge with an amazing view on the lake.
Restaurant downhill is a bit pricey but high quality food and staff is really helpful.
The swimming pool also has an amazing view on the lake.
Even though the hotel is isolated, this was probably our favorite one from our trip.

This was the perfect place to stay. The volcano was our view every morning from our room and from the restaurant where we had an included breakfast every morning. The villa was clean and spacious. The staff were amazing. Our host Daniella was incredible. She booked tours for us and was there whenever we had questions. We could not have asked for a better stay.

We travelled with our children (3 years old and 8 months) and it was a dream destination! We were prepared for the « bumpy » road to get there, and it was much less difficult than expected. Nepenthe was a magic place to stay for our family. We loved:
1-The LOVELY and welcoming staff at Phoenix restaurant. Our son already misses his « friends »
2- The view from our villa was breathtaking.
3-The calm, the birds, the weather and all the activities in the area!
4-The villa #7 itself was well furnished and very spacious
