This is an amazing property and we loved staying in a traditional Japanese townhouse, in a quiet part of town. I was travelling with my husband and 3 adult children in early April. The location is great for walking into Nara (10-15 mins). We arrived in the evening and it was lovely that our host had put the heating on for us and it was easy to retrieve the keys from the key safe. It was a bonus to find there are 2 toilets and 2 hand washing basins in the property. We all agreed that the shower is the most powerful shower we have ever come across - amazing. All the beds were large doubles and very comfortable. We stayed for 4 nights and our host had left lots of extra towels for us (far more than we chose to use). We liked that the bedrooms could also be heated in the evening, if needed. I used the washing machine and the instructions in English were helpful. There were lots of hanging rails to dry clothes on. The kitchen was well equipped and had more than we needed to reheat meals from the convenience store or to make snacks. For the rest of our stay in Japan we stayed in aparthotels in family suites. I was great to have so much room to spread out in for a few days. I highly recommend this property.

The staff went way and beyond to accommodate our needs- they were all super lovely and helpful. Especially the person who took us to our room and explained everything upon check-in and the person who ran after check-out to the bus stop to return our forgotten gloves! This was our first Ryokan experience. We picked it because of the reviews and it was as described. Not a modernised version but more traditional lending to the authenticity. Mieko-san is a great host, lovely, warm and most helpful. Also, her food is delicious! Would certainly recommend to those looking to stay in a Home-Ryokan.

Amazing stay and a highlight of our trip! The room with a private bath was luxurious yet simple, with an amazing view of Nara. The included seasonal dinner and breakfast was a wonderful way to try some new Japanese foods. The shuttle bus to and from Nara was a nice addition, and all staff were so kind and helpful. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to experience onsen and ryokan while in Japan!
