Hars Garden Sumba is gelegen in Waingapu en biedt een tuin. Er is gratis privéparkeren en de accommodatie biedt betaalde shuttleservice naar deze luchthaven. Everything! It was clean, and the bathroom was spacious! So cool how Hars is building everything himself on his property. The view of the mountains is just… wow! I stayed for two nights, but I easily could’ve stayed longer. Breakfast was also delicious, with fresh fruit from the garden! The fact that there’s no air conditioning might take some getting used to, but I slept really well — the breeze flows nicely through the room thanks to the way it’s built. I’m very curious to see how things will look in a few years with all the plans Hars still has. It’s hard to imagine this place becoming anything but a hidden gem!

Casa Kandara heeft een buitenzwembad, een tuin, een terras en een restaurant in Waingapu. Er is gratis privéparkeren en de accommodatie is voorzien van gratis shuttleservice naar deze luchthaven. Het is een onwijs mooi hotel. Heel netjes, kamers zijn heel schoon en vrij van insecten. Kwamen een snack op de kamer brengen, heel lief. Zwembad was top. Eten in het restaurant was heerlijk en service was goed.

Morinda Villa and Resto is gelegen in Waingapu en heeft een tuin, een terras, een restaurant, en gratis WiFi in de hele accommodatie. De accommodatie biedt luchthaventransfers en fietsverhuur. Amazing location, Freddy the owner is such a welcoming and warm person. He gave us so many tips about travelling through sumba and recommended us to join the sunrise trekking on the hills next to the villa. We paid only 250.000 and we got an incredible sunrise! The views were stunning and he loves to share his passion for nature and culture! The villa was in great condition and the breakfast was good. Our highlight was definitely his own weaving art. He has a little shop in the reception area with local pieces. But he mentioned that his profession is being a Weaver and he has higher quality pieces in his house. He invited us to his place and showed us all his work and we were listening to him for 1 hour. The pieces are made with such beautiful patterns ans designs. We bought one, and this is our favourite souvenir of 2 months travelling through Indonesia and Vietnam. If you stay here, make sure to talk to Freddy :)

Oro Beach Houses in Weetebula biedt accommodatie met uitzicht op de tuin, een tuin, een privéstrand, een gedeelde lounge, een terras en een restaurant. The staff were wonderful and the place was really nice. For this price in Sumba, it’s hard to find anything better. There were a few more insects in the room compared to places like Bali, but it wasn’t a big issue thanks to the mosquito net, which was in perfect condition despite what some other reviews mentioned. We stayed in two different rooms and had no problems.

Camp Tarimbang heeft een tuin, een gedeelde lounge, een terras, en biedt accommodatie in Tandulujangga met gratis WiFi en uitzicht op de zee. Avontuur! 2 uur rijden of the besten track. Hotspot voor surfers. Prachtige baai. Lekker eten. Toilet vond ik wat vies. Goed bed in tent. Muskietennet zou ik meenemen next time.

LOPE HOMESTAY ligt in Ndangu in de regio Sumba en biedt accommodatie met gratis privéparkeren. Alle units zijn voorzien van airconditioning en een flatscreen-tv. Good place to spend the night, ideal for large group of friends and family, if you book the 2 rooms apartment. Very clean.

Lambo Homestay in Waikabubak biedt accommodatie met uitzicht op de tuin, een tuin, een gedeelde lounge, een terras en een restaurant. The homestay is very nice and comfortable, big rooms with ac and big shared area with beautiful view. Nayla and the other girls working are lovely. Nayla helped us so much, gave us lots of useful information to move around Sumba. We were gonna stay for one night and we ended yo staying 4. Also food is very good, definitely recommend it!

Het Cemara Beachfront Suite ligt aan het privéstrand Purukambera Beach en biedt gratis parkeergelegenheid en kamers met uitzicht op de oceaan. The staff at Cemara were incredible. They greeted us with juice and farewelled us with bracelets. They were helpful with any questions, and provided us with a scooter, snorkel and yoga mat upon request. The staff were incredibly attentive and kind - they went above and beyond. The location is fantastic, right on the beach and great swimming at high tide. Snorkelling was only 50m out from the shore and there is a cool waterfall was about 45 minutes (by scooter) down the road. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The restaurant was well priced and we had a decent breakfast. There was always complimentary bottled water! Overall, we had a lovely, relaxing stay at Cemara.

Sumba Adventure Resort bevindt zich in Baing in de regio Sumba en biedt accommodatie met gratis privéparkeren. Er is een volledig uitgeruste kitchenette en een eigen badkamer. Het beach house waarin wij verbleven lag op een prachtige plek onder de palmbomen direct aan het strand. Het meest getroffen werden wij door de vriendelijkheid en zorgzaamheid van de ontzettend lieve mensen. Ofschoon het huis zelf niet over wifi beschikt, heb je met een roaming telefoon abonnement wel goed bereik. Communicatie verloopt via google translate omdat ze de Engelse taal niet goed machtig zijn. Ontbijt, drankjes en maaltijden worden op het huisje of strand geserveerd. Er was een parasol met ligstoelen. Gekoelde kokosnoten zijn heerlijk. Het is er puur en authentiek. Er waren maar weinig toeristen en dat geldt voor heel Sumba. Het strand is omgeven door een rif ongeveer een km uit de kust waardoor er weinig golfslag op het strand zelf is, terwijl het gebulder van de golven op het rif goed hoorbaar en zichtbaar is. Voor wie wil surfen op meer dan manshoge golven kan z’n hart ophalen op een strand een paar km verderop. Scooters kan je voor weinig geld huren op locatie. Onze gastheer is met ons mee geweest en heeft ons de omgeving laten zien en daarvoor niets in rekening gebracht. Over zorgzame gastvrijheid gesproken. We hadden een geweldige tijd.
