The guest house was a lovely half hour walk from the train station along the canal in an absolutely beautiful neighborhood. We loved strolling around the area and it was easy to get to boat rides and restaurants nearby. IKOI itself is wonderful and had everything we needed. Warm room (can't say that about every place we have stayed at), super comfortable beds and other amenities in tip top condition. The view of the garden from the cafe is honestly worth the price alone, it's breathtaking. It's hard to believe you're not in the countryside when looking out that window. Finally, I have to dedicate a paragraph of this review to Jo, the owner. He was so helpful and accommodating throughout our stay. He helped us with figuring out transportation, he called a restaurant for us to help with a reservation and he recommended some local places that ended up being the highlight of our stay in Yanagawa. I cannot say enough great things about our host, just 10/10. Overall, our stay at IKOI was wonderful and I could not recommend this place more!

The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The room was very comfortable and spacious enough for our family of 5. The tub on the porch was amazing. Grilling out on our front porch was very fun and the heaters made it nice and warm even in winter. We enjoyed morning yoga, fire pit s'mores and the free drinks and mocktails from the garden kitchen. There is an incredible park within walking distance. So much fun!

Kids were supposed to stay with a friend but ended up having to stay with us at this hotel with us. The staff was very kind and accommodating. We really appreciate it! Affordable and great location with a lot of restaurants in the area.

The ryokan features rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. Excellent small ryokan next to one of the punting stations. Room was huge and had a view to garden and canal. Excellent dinner and breakfast. We noted that Yanagawa could have been a better place to visit Yoshinogari and Dazaifu than our next stay in Fukuoka - Yanagawa has excellent fast direct train to Dazaifu. Next time would stay more than 1 night in this Ryokan
