Clean and big room - very traditional old Japanese style Ryokan; exactly what we have been looking for. Great location too. The staff was fantastic, providing us with tips for the neighbourhood and some interesting Japanese coffee jelly. There is free coffee, tea and water as well at all times. Be sure to reserve breakfast at least a day in advance. We missed it and unfortunately could not get a taste of it (though it looked fantastic).

Opened in June 2013, The Edo Sakura offers accommodation in a Japanese-style Machiya townhouse located a 5-minute walk from Iriya Subway Station and a 10-minute walk from JR Uguisudani Train Station. Free Wi-Fi is available at the entire property and guests can enjoy looking out into the traditional garden. Ueno Station is a 15-minute walk away. The staff was very helpful in answering all my questions before we arrived and took very good care of us the four nights I stayed with my daughters at Edo Sakura. And during our stay, we had great breakfast and service. The room was on the smaller side for the three of us, but it was cosy, and we had everything we needed. In a quiet and quaint neighborhood, walking distance to Ueno station, which is bustling and fun.
