Just 250 metres from Zenko-ji Temple, Matsuya Ryokan offers simple Japanese rooms with tatami-mat floors, a green-tea maker and an attached Western bathroom. The hotel features public baths. The location couldn’t be better just on the main attraction street and a short walk from the museum on one side or the town center on the other. Spacious Traditional room with comfortable futon and great bathroom. There was also a public bath which was lovely at the end of the day to relax. We had one evening meal there and the food was nice. Staff was very kind (even with our turbulent toddler)

The hosts are absolutely amazing and kind, they picked up our luggage at the station and we went on our way to sightsee. They drove us to the station in the morning. The house is about 20 min walk from the station, easy to find. The house has everything you might need and I mean it, the hosts even left us some ramen, water, snacks. On the morning we left the lady brough us amazing breakfast and coffee. There is everything you might need to do laundry. Just a great place to stay, wish we stayed here longer.

We especially enjoyed the bath as well as the common room. Our little girl was so happy about the train set available for play. The breakfast was delicious and our only regret was not booking dinner. The bed was the most comfortable we had during our whole stay. Thank you so much and we hope to visit again!

Prijs / kwaliteit verhouding is subliem.

It’s an incredibly cute guesthouse with a great vibe. The shared kitchen is well-equipped with plenty of utensils to use and enough space to enjoy a cozy meal. There’s even a kotatsu! We also messaged them after booking to ask whether the room was mixed or female-only, as we were a bit concerned. We received a very quick response reassuring us that there was no need to worry and that a female-only room would be prepared for us. The owner is super friendly, and her positive energy is contagious. :) Since it’s located in an onsen town, there are plenty of opportunities to relax after a day of exploring. Location- just in front of Aeon mall, walking distance to nawate and nakamachi streets, the well equipped kitchen where we cooked black-haired nagano wagyu fillet purchased from Aeon mall( saved us a lot compared to eating it from restos) and most of all- the very warm welcome and care given to us by the owner. We will stay again!
