Its a nice, calm corner in the outskirts of town. perfect for getting away from the big city. The owner and his family are more than friendly and accomodating, would recommend.

津軽三味線と民謡 ゲストハウス繭子の宿 ligt in Hachinohe, op 14 km van Konakano, en biedt accommodatie met een tuin, gratis privéparkeren en een gedeelde lounge. It was an amazing experience, the guesthouse is located in a very beautiful place close to nature. The host was so welcoming, she prepared a dinner for us (asked if we are interested in it) and introduced us to the music, dance and singing from the region. We talked and learned a lot :) the room was big and comfortable, the view and singing of the birds in the morning made the day brighter :)

Guesthouse Oyado Iizaka ligt in Fukushima, op 35 km van station Nihonmatsu, en biedt accommodatie met een tuin, gratis privéparkeren, een gedeelde lounge en een terras. The host was super friendly! It had a homely feel and I felt very comfortable here. We also had a BBQ together on the front deck!

Historical Ryokan SENYUKAN is ideaal gelegen in de wijk Owani Onsen in Ōwani, en is gelegen op 43 km van Archeologische vindplaats Sannai-Maruyama, 17 km van kasteel van Hirosaki en 42 km van Sukayu... Everything was good, especially the bath/onsen!

Tabinoyado Saikawa bevindt zich in Kuroishi, op 33 km van Towada-meer, en biedt accommodatie met gratis WiFi en gratis privéparkeren. This is a traditional Japanese ryokan with public baths (gender separated). Dinner and breakfast are amazing and plentiful, with locally sourced organic produce (even coffee!). Our room (Japanese room with private toilet) was to the left of the entrance. It was very spacious. The heater worked very well as autumn night was a bit damp and cold. The beds are futons on wood bed frames on tatami, and they are super comfortable. As I have a whole-leg tattoo which is usually not permitted in the public baths, I notified Ranko in advance, and she reserved the private bath for us. The private bath was a very beautiful blue ceramic bath filled with warm (I don’t think it’s very hot) healing hot spring water from the area. Ranko’s warm personality really made the stay memorable. Be sure to ask her for recommendations of the areas. She is a well of knowledge of the area!

Minpaku Suzuki in Hiraizumi is gelegen op minder dan 1 km van Motsuji-tempel en biedt accommodatie met airconditioning, gratis WiFi, en toegang tot een terras. We had a wonderful stay at Minpaku Suzuki! The hosts were very friendly and gave us a warm welcome. The room was spacious, clean and quiet. There is no bathroom but the nearby onsen is adequate. The breakfast was delicious, way above our expectations. Highly recommended!

Matakitai bevindt zich in Ichinoseki, op 14 km van Motsuji-tempel, en biedt accommodatie met een tuin, gratis privéparkeren en een gedeelde lounge. The property is nice and cozy, walk a little (approximately 6mins) from the Ofunato line mataki station. The day I’m arrived the ofunato line was suspended til the evening but the host is very nice and helpful, he picked us up and drove us to the ichenoseki station on the checked out day. Though the host isn’t fluent in English, he trying to communicate and help us in anything he’s incredibly good!!

We spent three wonderful days in Hirosaki, a charming and authentic town that still feels untouched by mass tourism. It was refreshing to explore a place where the pace is slower and the culture feels so genuine. The absolute highlight of our stay was Guest House Chara, run by the kindest elderly couple, Fusao and Toshiko. Their warmth and hospitality made us feel completely at home—it wasn’t just a place to sleep, it truly felt like staying with family. Their house told a story, filled with warmth, history, and the little personal touches that made it feel lived-in and loved. From the amazing homemade breakfast to the delicious ramen dinners they prepared, every meal was made with care and love. The guest house is conveniently located, just a short walk from a supermarket and a laundromat, which made things really easy for us. This personal, welcoming experience truly made our trip special. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a meaningful, off-the-beaten-path experience in Japan. ありがとうございます
