The owner of the camp has assembled a great team of commited people. They provided us with everything: information, transport, guide and superb food. In fact, you can have the camp arrange your game drives in the Masai Mara and your transport from and to Nairobi, all at very competetive rates. The owner, Magdy, will explain everything to you through WhatsApp. All the accomodation and facilities are safe and clean (but opt for the larger and more comfortable rooms!). I did a lot of research before my booking, and I think Greenwood (also recommended in the Lonely Planet guide book, by the way) is among the best choices, if you are on a budget. Go there!

Completely local ownership and management, which we highly value and one of the reasons we chose this, together with the location and the small size. We had tent 3, high on stilts, large, private, wooden floors, huge netted windows, outside deck all around, unobstructed views on the savannah. Big comfortable bed with good mattress, en-suite bathroom with toilet and huge shower, running water. Electricity and hot water are solar - electricity is around the clock, so maybe the camp tops it up at night with a generator, but we never heard one. Large, charming traditional mess tent, with bar area, and extra lounge, wonderful outdoor deck with fire pit, small plunge pool with deck chairs. Food was excellent, they will apparently cater to dietary needs but have a fixed menu. Most meals in the mess tent, some scenically set in the bush. All drinks were included as was daily laundry. Highly knowledgeable and dedicated guides (William the owner, and Alex), game drives were mostly inside the park and arranged as and when we wished, with picnic breakfast and/or lunch, or not, as we wished. Park fees were included which made the offer we got superb value for money. We had been on safari several times almost 4 decades ago when luxury safaris were mobile or semi-permanent tented camps, small, unfenced, only with simple drop toilets and hot bucket showers, communication only via radio, bush cooking, communal mess tent and fire pit… but with an abundance of local staff delivering perfect, exclusive service. That’s the feeling we were looking for again and this is the closest we found on our trip to Kenya: very similar traditional, exclusive safari feeling , experience and charm, with great service, modern comforts, but no excesses and low imprint.

Providing garden views, Entumoto Luxury Tents in Ololaimutiek offers accommodation, an outdoor swimming pool and a garden. Excellent service and staff. David and Sam are excellent guides. There is an opportunity to visit a local school and village (not announced in advance). You can also support students with a scholarship - $300 per year! Perched on the hills of the private and secluded Megwarra escarpment lies Entumoto Safari Camp. The camp offers panoramic views over the Mara plains and features an outdoor pool, restaurant and bar. The best part of Entumoto Camp is without a doubt the incredible staff. From the moment we arrived, everyone made us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. Our guide, Isaac, went above and beyond to ensure our stay was the most unforgettable experience we’ve ever had. Their knowledge, patience, and passion for the wildlife and local culture made every game drive truly special. Traveling with two young children (ages 5 and 7), we were amazed by how attentive and kind everyone was with them. The staff made sure our kids were comfortable, safe, and happy at all times — treating them as part of the Entumoto family. The camp itself is beautiful, with stunning views of the Masa Mara reservation, comfortable tents, and delicious meals served in a warm, family-like atmosphere. We left Entumoto Camp with full hearts, unforgettable memories, and a strong desire to return someday. Thank you to the entire team for giving us such a remarkable experience.
