As pretty much everyone reviewed, this place was great. I decided to take the 1:30 pm bus from Arequipa to Cabanaconde. It sucked that I got there at 9 pm, but I thought it would be better than having to wake up at 3 am for a bus and then start my hike right afterwards. A few days out I messaged Leandro. He sent me an image of the restaurant menu to order something in advance in case I arrived after the restaurant closed. Sure enough I arrived late. The team cooked me a pizza, stayed open for me, and then heated up the pizza when I got there. The included breakfast was great as well. Sorry that I don’t know everyone’s name, but thank you so much to Leandro and team for making my visit wonderful. I’m a world where many people do not care, I really get the impression that this place does care about their customers overall experience at the Colca Canyon!

This is a relatively new hostel in Arequipa, located just 10 minutes from the Plaza de Armas in a pretty quiet spot. There is a nice roof terrace to hang out with other travellers or the pet birds and rabbit. My room and bathroom was clean and comfortable. Best of all was Fabiola, who runs the hostel, who is among the kindest and loveliest people I've met while travelling through Peru! (You can book tours through the hostel too)

Set in a refurbished mansion with charming colonial style architecture, La Casa de Melgar is set in Arequipa’s historical district. Staff were exceptionally friendly. They kindly offered to hold our bags when we were off doing Colca Canyon hike and even upgraded our room free of charge. The Hotel itself is a gorgeous building with beautiful gardens. Everything was very clean and the breakfasts were delicious. On the morning we left for our hike at 3am the staff had to go breakfast bags prepared to keep us going also.

Yanque is beautiful- great walks, ruins and hot springs to soak away any soreness from hiking. This is a real gem of a place to stay. It is very professionally run and all the staff are lovely and really attentive and helpful. It is spotlessly clean, comfortable and tranquil. The restaurant food is great, as was the breakfast. We had booked for 2 nights but stayed for 3. Thank you Miskiwasi.
