The food. I had lamb skewers with mediterranean vegetables in the evening, which was excellent. The breakfast was very good too and cooked as I had requested it. Very clean room with what looked like, a new bathroom with a corner shower cubicle. Proper thick towels with a full sized bath sheet!

So much to like about this hotel but the dog guy welcome pack which included a healthy treat blanket to go on the bed or floor and towel was a lively surprise (you don’t get to keep the blanket and towel). He was welcome I. All areas except tge restaurant but they made it so easy by just setting our meals up in the bar instead. The garden was huge for the kids to run around in and the access gate straight out of th back of the garden into the New Forrest made walking the dog super easy and the children were super excited to get to see the horses and pat some of them that came over to us. Food was delicious for both dinner and breakfast and it was nice to see a couple of different things on a kids menu so ham, eggs and chip stand a cheese omelette were a welcome break. The rooms we had worked perfectly for us as a family we had 2 rooms at the end of the corridor behind a fire door so if we so wanted we could leave the room doors open and the children (& dog could move between the rooms. They were light and airy with lovely big windows. If you like or need to sleep in you definitely need to pull the shutters across as well as close the curtain to keep it dark enough to sleep. We had trouble deciding what to do as there is so much not only in the surrounding area but also in very close proximity. Long Down Activity farm is just around the corner Beaulieu is about 10 mins drive and Paultons Park and Peppa pig world aren’t much further than that either. The hotel has a brochure rack if you are looking for other things to do and the staff were helpful helping to recommend places to eat nearby. As we drove away my husband said that was nice for a 3 star and I thought he was joking. It was way better than many 4 star hotels I’ve stayed and and even some 5 stars. But I would say that most or the reason for not having a higher star rating is from not having those extra facilities like spa, swimming pool, gym etc.

Frequent traveller visiting places and hotels all over the world & a chef myself, this was a real reminder of excellence in such a gorgeous location. I wanted to eat everything on the menu, which has clearly been put together to take advantage of locally sourced produce. The staff couldn't do enough for us , with a good old-fashioned customer service. The decor and rooms make for a country house feel with a modern twist.... There's been no expense spared on the recent refurbishment. If Iived a little closer, I would be a regular, sadly living in Perth Australia 🇦🇺 it will have to be next year! Good luck to the whole team as you make this beautiful place come into its full glory.

Beautiful historical home with large bedrooms. Bathrooms are shared but there are a few to choose from, so never had to wait. The communal areas (inside and outside) encouraged conversation and we met some lovely fellow travelers at breakfast. Communication was outstanding and shout-out to Emily for coming back in the evening to let us in hospitaly.

Breakfast was very good, as was my evening meal, service was great, room was very clean, bathroom was immaculate! Very spacious shower. Was some noise from the Bar, but England were playing so to be expected, however more traffic noise than I expected, however if you are a supercar fan, this location is ideal for you as many drove by and also a Ferrari dealership just across the way.

Raj was a fantastic host. Hotel spotless large very comfortable rooms. The curry was exceptional. We found the bar prices well below average and enjoyed the comfortable seating area. Location ideal,just a short walk into town. We have already booked for a,return visit over the Christmas period. Perfect.
