The first thing to say is that the staff is really friendly and helpful. The location is great, at the heart of the resort, just a couple of minutes walk from the ski slopes. The rooms are simple and comfortable and the breakfast was very tasty. The bath downstairs is spatious and very pleasant and the facilities for skying are very good, with even a drying room for ski gear! It was a great stay!

Best place I stayed during a three week trip all over Japan. Big family runs it and every detail is amazing. You’re treated like part of the family. The food is exceptional, it’s close to the slopes, the room is comfy, there’s an onsen on site. Just so good, everything.

I'm sure this place is rocking during the ski season, but as non skiers, we wanted to experience the autumn colours and the crisp mountain air outside the ski season, and it did not disappoint! The red and orange foliage surrounding the property is stunning, the accommodation had everything we needed, and the staff were more than wonderful... making this an absolute highlight of our trip. The peace and quiet of the mountains, the fire and chairs outside under the stars, and being able to cook (I recommend shopping at the big 'Beisia' supermarket in Liyana) was awesome. Can't wait to come back.

Masa and the staff at Hotel Madam Mirei were so lovely! They helped us feel very welcome and ensured we had all we needed. The room was sufficient and wonderfully warm after a day in the snow. The hot pot dinner they provide in the restaurant is exceptional and delicious too! The snow gear and boards were all in great condition and they supplied everything we needed to go snowboarding/skiing on the slopes at the hotel. Good value for money and would definitely come back here again next time we're in Madarao.
