What a wholesome place! The room was clean, tidy and comfortable, warm blankets. There was a family rooftop with an awesome view. The best of of course was the host itself, who was very friendly, answered any questions, open for conversation and sharing his culture. On the next day me and my friends were even invited to join his family for a festival. Couldn't get more local! Everything was good. But don't expect an extremely fancy shower or so like in a hotel. You are staying in place where local people live. And you will find everything you need! What could be better than that.

This is not the first visit to Nepal, but for the first time we stopped in Bhaktapur - it’s definitely worth doing! A wonderful, charming hotel in an ancient building on the oldest square in the city. We asked for a specific room and it was kindly provided to us. Everything was exactly as in the photo and even a little better. You must understand that in traditional houses there is no sound insulation and if the windows of your room overlook the square, you will hear 24 hours a day, but you will also be able to watch what is happening from the first row. The hotel is run by a very hospitable family and you can meet and interact with all generations. The service is excellent! Lovely rich breakfast, good restaurant menu and the best coffee. The most delicious yogurt in Nepal, just like “grandmother made.” The rooms are well equipped, comfortable beds, mosquito net (in our room), kettle, coffee maker, drinking water. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel.

Great family run homestay in a quiet courtyard tucked away from the 'hustle and bustle'. Only a minute walk from Taumadhi Square. The homestay is within the ticketing booth cordon that surrounds Bhaktapurs' historical center. (Ticket is one off 1800npr: Remember to tell the counter operator how long you intend to stay, and it will be written on your ticket. The city is amazing and is worth spending a few days wandering the back streets. I stayed a week and used it as a base to explore the surrounding hills by bicycle. The city is not too busy outside of Saturday, when it can be quite crowded with locals. Namaste homestay exceeded my expectations. They are striving to improve the guest experience. The family has the highly rated Namaste Restaurant in Taumadhi Square also. I am looking forward to returning for Gai Jatra, a vibrant Newar festival celebrated on August 10.

A Stunning Property in Bhaktapur! Hotel Yechu is truly one of the finest properties in Bhaktapur. While it is a little farther from Durbar Square, the breathtaking architecture makes it well worth the visit. Though we didn’t get the chance to stay this time, the ambiance and design left a lasting impression. I will definitely choose to stay here on my next visit. Shekhar is a special person that has created a special place for travellers to come together, share and find a likeminded community which this place seems to attract. On arrival I felt immediately at peace as it feels like home and has the best energy. Shekhar is very generous with sharing his time to show guests around the hidden gems of Bhaktapur and knowledge of Nepali and Newari culture. Staying here wasn’t just a place to sleep, it was an experience of getting to really know the city and Nepali way of life. Staying here also reminded me of the important things in life - good company, community, music, spirituality, art, food, learning and exploring. It was one of the highlights of two months travelling Nepal which speaks volumes :)
