Justin is making moves and giving back to the community, and finding away to bring people back to nature, which is more than I can say for most of the hostels I’ve stayed at. If you’d like to be part of something bigger, it’s a good place to start. The staff were all extremely nice and accommodating! The place was clean, set up well for travelers and in a great part of town! It was especially nice being able to talk to an expat Justin, who was quick to show me all of the areas i should check out. The set up and price make this a great place for someone passing through for an evening like myself or for a more long term stay there in Santa Marta!

We arrived late afternoon which meant our room was ready straight away. The hotel were helpful in advance letting us of the park entrance ticket booth closing time which meant we arrived before closing time (5pm). The hotel is beautiful, the views are fantastic and the sky was clear both nights we were there which meant we could stargaze from our terrace. It was super quiet and peaceful. Right by one of the main entrances to the park, easy to find and very easy to start our hike into the park early in the morning. They have a pingpong table and board games in the dining room which were fun to play in the evenings too. We will be back!

El Santuario was the perfect home base for exploring Minca! Nora and José Luis have obviously put a lot of love into their hotel- they were exceptionally kind and provided us with everything we needed during our stay. We split three rooms between 5 friends, which was totally comfortable for us. We started every morning taking in the stunning views while enjoying a delicious home cooked breakfast- the birdwatching is unparalleled to any place I’ve visited before! It’s a quick 10 minute drive to the center of Minca- we had a car, but the hotel will happily arrange a mototaxi for you, which I took advantage of as i chose to stay an extra night after my travel mates departed. We ended our evenings using the ample common areas to sip tequila and reflect on our adventures. The evenings were cool enough that we wouldn’t have used a/c even if it was available. Of course there are some bugs, but what else would you expect staying in a rustic town in the middle of the jungle?? Other reviewers noting this as a con are obviously unused to accommodations that strive to be as ecologically mindful as possible to their natural environments. This lovely boutique hotel is just as it appeared in the photos. The staff is wonderful. The owners are very engaged in running the hotel with the guests need as top priority. You will feel like part of a family! We liked it so much that we are circling back and spending our final 5 days in Colombia with everyone again.

The most amazing place. I love the location and the beautiful landscape, the gardens, the pool. The rooms are big and lovely bathroom. But above all the staff!!! Out of this world hospitality and consideration. They took such excellent care of us. The family is so proud of this place and want to share everything. You will not regret staying here.
