My absolute favorite homestay from my entire month in Vietnam. Such a lovely family, always eager to help with everything they had. They even prepared breakfast for me at 1 AM before my Mai Chau race. When no other buses were available, they found one for me. They were always there whenever I needed anything. The rooms look just like in the pictures, not all private rooms have a mountain view so double check on that. On top of that, if something wasn’t working, they’d fix it within minutes. Good A/C, great facilities, and an excellent location close to everything in Mai Chau.

I only booked one night at Avana Retreat for my boyfriend's birthday, as he needed a relaxing getaway—and the hotel absolutely delivered. It’s a true haven of peace. I visited during the winter, and while the rice fields might not be as lush and green as in the summer, the stunning landscapes still took my breath away. Plus, the off-season meant fewer tourists, allowing us to fully recharge and enjoy the privacy and tranquility we were seeking. My boyfriend tried the Avana Waterfall massage, and although it’s a budget, he said it was the best massage of his life. The rooms are luxurious, and we loved spending the night there. If we had more time and a bigger budget, we would have stayed longer. I also attended the Rattan-weaving workshop, which I really enjoyed. It’s included in the reservation, and I really appreciated doing this activity. The staff were friendly and attentive, and they went above and beyond by preparing a birthday cake for my boyfriend. It’s those little touches that make a big difference. I highly recommend Avana Retreat—it’s perfect for anyone in need of relaxation, beautiful surroundings, and outstanding service.

The location is remote but incredibly peaceful – surrounded by mountains, forests, and overlooking the Da River. It's the perfect place to unplug and slow down. The bungalows are cozy, clean, and thoughtfully built with natural materials. I especially loved waking up to the sound of birds and watching the mist roll over the lake in the morning – absolutely magical! Staff were kind and helpful, always making sure we felt comfortable. Meals were simple but delicious, with fresh local ingredients and traditional flavors. If you're looking for a place to relax, read a book, enjoy nature, or just breathe deeply – this is it. A hidden gem worth discovering.

Friendly host, tasty food, great for cycling around the village. Clean, comfy rooms – both stilt-house style and private.

Me and my dad , We were traveling together, and the hotel offered to upgrade one of our rooms — we accepted the upgrade. Unfortunately, the upgraded room was disappointing: it wasn’t clean, the sheets were dirty, the bathroom had a bad smell, and there was visible mold on the walls. In contrast, the regular room was perfectly fine — clean, neat, and very comfortable. The overall hotel facilities didn’t look as well-maintained or welcoming as shown in the pictures, with the outdoor areas appearing somewhat neglected and disorganized. On a positive note, the dinner was excellent and definitely the highlight of our stay.
