This traditionally built wooden-frame chalet-style house is situated on the edge of the forest. It provided ample room for the two of us, but could easily accommodate a family. The situation is peaceful, with birdsong and the distant sound of the ocean. The beach is a short walk away, either along the road or through the edge of the forest. There are a some shops and restaurants at the beach, including La Plancha du Pecheur, which serves good food and has a large sheltered terrace overlooking the sea. The railway station and a cycle hire shop are within an easy walk. The village of Ondres is a few minutes drive away and has bars, restaurants, shops and a useful Carrefour supermarket. There is also a tourist information office with maps of local walking and cycling routes. The nearby nature reserve at Marais d'Orx is worth a visit.

Gabriel is an extraordinary host, super kind and helpful. The location is new and clean, the outdoor hot shower was truly a pleasant surprise, especially useful for surfers. Gabriel also provides racks and hangers to store surfboards and wetsuits. Very helpful! Overall, strategic location, within walking distance of the beaches of Santocha and Oceanide, but overall convenient for getting around Capbreton and Hossegor.
