The lodge is beautifully nestled in the jungle, yet surprisingly, it's only a 5-minute walk to the city and train station. The room is well-equipped with everything you need, and Angelo, the host, will go out of his way to cater to any special requests you may have. Speaking of Angelo, he's an incredibly kind and helpful soul who embodies the spirit of a perfect host. He makes you feel welcome and at ease with his charming demeanor. His willingness to go the extra mile to ensure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable is truly commendable. If I could, I would book with Angelo exclusively for all my future stays. In short, this lodge is a hidden gem, and I feel fortunate to have experienced it. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable stay.

This will be the best stay during your Sri Lanka trip. The most friendly hosts, they arranged everything for us without being pushy trying to sell their services. The breakfast was fantastic and served right on your balcony. The view is to die for and the balcony is perfectly suited to take it all in. Very clean and big room (it’s a lot better than the pictures show). We hope to come back here someday.

Located 49 km from Gregory Lake, Ella Breeze Homestay provides accommodation with a garden, a terrace and room service for your convenience. The lodge features both WiFi and private parking free of charge. For our group of six occupying three rooms, this was a wonderful place we truly enjoyed. It’s located outside Ella, but the 6 km walk along the railway is easy and filled with great views; the train ride is also a memorable experience and highly recommended. The accommodation feels authentic, with beautiful vistas and the gentle sounds of nature and local life. The host and his family are extremely friendly and helpful; we always felt safe and welcome. The owner even took us to a nearby tea factory for a fantastic private tour. Breakfast was a typical local meal; we apologise again to the host for not fully appreciating it. We highly recommend booking this place – every morning here is magical! 😊

Horton Plains National Park is 46 km from " YOLO " LOVELY COTTAGE, while Ella Railway Station is 3.3 km away. Sat on the train writing this and genuinely feel sad to have left this place. Felt like a home away from home (with better food and views). The whole family are so so kind and we felt like and extension of their family during our stay. The accommodation is lovely with your own separate bedroom and bathroom (even mini fridge) with the most beautiful terrace overlooking the hills. We had some of the best food of our whole trip here. The breakfasts were huge and delicious and they were very flexible with timings so we could get out early for walks! We also did a cooking class with the family which was a highlight and learnt how to cook so many dishes! The son gave us a tuktuk ride to the beginning of our walks and to the train station at 0630am! (and even found out for us that the train was running from the next town instead) We also rented a scooter for the day which was a great way to explore the surrounding area and they gave us lots of pointers about where to go! Cannot fault this place at all. If you are lucky enough they have availability on your dates, definitely don’t hesitate to stay!

It was filled with delicious foods. Location is amazing. Staff also friendly.

She made us a delicious breakfast every morning, helped us plan our activities in Ella and even gave us an incredible cooking class, making some great Sri Lankan curries! And for such a good price!

The rooms are comfortable and the view from the spot is lovely with all of the trees. The rooms don't have AC but we didn't find that to be a problem as Ella is not as warm as other spots we stayed in Sri Lanka - we used the fan at night. It was good to open the windows to let in fresh air as it can be a bit stuffy and humid but I think this is the norm with the humidity. No mould or anything like this :) the location is great right next to a couple of main attractions (Littles Adams and Nine Arches) and some nice food spots but still secluded and quiet. The place is up steps if this could be an issue for you - it was ok for us. The host was super helpful always and also offered us transport and reasonable prices to get to different spots if we asked! We also did the cooking class which we really enjoyed. The breakfasts were a highlight - we had the Sri Lankan breakfast and absolutely loved them - slightly different each day with string hoppers and coconut sambal and different curries plus fresh fruit etc. The hosts also packed us a wee lunch of sandwiches and fruit for our early train and dropped us off there. We really enjoyed our stay here!

Located in Ohiya, surrounded by mountains in the Horton Plains Range, Hill Safari - Tea Estate Villa mainly serves Sri Lankan cuisine. It features a shared lounge area surrounded by tea estates/mountains. The property boasts an excellent location for hiking and trekking. We loved our stay at the Hill Safari. The views were spectacular, the staff made us feel very comfortable and welcome and the room was everything we needed. The food was also delicious and they gave us many new year treats to try. They recommended some great walking routes, talking you through the route with a hand drawn map!
