Zhulat is a small mountain village that offers a truly authentic Albanian experience — you’ll likely be the only tourists or foreigners there. It’s hard to put into words what we experienced in the home of Fatmir and Fjona. If you’re seeking the real Albania, far from tourist resorts, this is the place for you. Here, you’ll encounter true Albanian hospitality. The house has belonged to Fatmir’s family for generations — their son is the 10th generation to live here. It’s a traditional stone house with a beautiful garden, full of history and decorated in authentic Albanian style. Each morning, Fjona prepares a rich and delicious breakfast made from local and homegrown ingredients. The garden is simply stunning — and much of what you eat comes directly from it. We were invited to a traditional Albanian dinner prepared by Fjona — homemade and full of local flavors. The next day, they even welcomed us for a delicious lunch. Staying here wasn’t just about accommodation — it was about connection, and a deep experience of real Albanian life. The place is calm and quiet, surrounded by mountains, with a refreshing river nearby. Gjirokastër is only about 30 minutes away. Fatmir and Fjona are warm, welcoming, and truly kind hosts. When we return to Albania, we will definitely come back to this place.

We had a fantastic stay at Guest House Vatra! The accommodation was cozy. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, always willing to advise and assist with any request! The breakfast was excellent, made from fresh and tasty ingredients. The location is ideal for those seeking a peaceful and relaxing environment, but it is also a great starting point for exploring the surrounding attractions as waterfall. I recommend Guest House Vatra to anyone looking for great accommodation at a reasonable price!

Such a nice place, with beautiful views from the mountain. The sky at night was also amazing. Elton and his father were so kind and prestatives. Always aware if we were confortable and providing something if needed. One of the highlights of the trip, for sure! We played football, did a barbacue, learned from local culture. And also there is a cinema in the camping. Definitely, I will come back on my next trip to Albania.

- The location was good. High up a small hill and about 10 min walk from the old town of Girokaster - The room was tastefully done and fairly large in size for our kids to play about - The hotel beakfast was very good with eggs to order, pancakes, fresh oranje juice etc - The hotel bar was open till late and we enjoyed a quiet drink while our kids were playing in the room above

Very welcoming host. Room was decorated nicely and clean, albeit with no view. Private parking on spot. Breakfast was really good. Overall we had a great stay in Gjirokaster and would reccomend the place to others.

Hotel Gjirokastër is located 300 metres from the centre, in a part of town famous for numerous museums.

The room was beautiful and in an excellent location. The breakfast was really good but the highlight was being made to feel part of the family. Warm friendly service and a big help with getting transport at 5.30 am 😊

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Palorto Inn, set in a beautifully renovated Ottoman house in the old town of Gjirokastër. Everything is brand new, with a spacious, stylish and very comfortable room. The welcome was exceptional: the owner is truly incredible and the staff extremely attentive, kind, and caring. They also helped us solve all our little issues — including a problem we had with our car — and were of great assistance throughout our stay. Breakfast, currently served in a nearby restaurant, was delicious.

Located in the city center of Gjirakostra, very close to the old town (you can even walk if you don't mind walking there :) ) The hotel is brand new and has been beautifully designed, with every detail considered. The staff who welcomed us were incredibly kind and helpful, even offered us Gjirakostra beer. This was truly the most enjoyable place we stayed in Albania. If you are visiting here highly recommended 💫
