We stayed in November so we were totally aware it was out of season and there would be limited options. We enjoyed the quiet streets and there was still a small selection of restaurants open. We also went swimming, the water was cool but still enjoyable. For us Ksamil was perfect in November but I would caution that you must be prepared for a very relaxing and quiet experience.

Ksamil is emerging as a tourist destination & the centre of...

Ksamil is emerging as a tourist destination & the centre of the town at least seems to have opted to cater for those who prefer loud music / water activities on the beaches. That said, there is a good selection of bars & restaurants both in the centre of the town and on the main road into it. The hotel in which we stayed (Area Hotel) was excellent. Public transport is ok - there is a bus every 30 mins to Sarande or Butrint BUT it is packed & an experience in itself! Fares are 150 Lek (1.5 euro) each way. Taxis are available but cost approx 30 euro each way. Although card payment is accepted in most restaurants / hotels etc, it seems as though cash is king in Albania. Local currency (Lek) can be accessed once you're in the country by changing euro at one of the many exchanges.

Ksamil is a very beautiful resort with numerous stunning beaches and crystal-clear azure waters. There are plenty of quality restaurants offering delicious food at reasonable prices. The only drawback is that almost all beach spots are paid, meaning you need to pay for sunbeds and umbrellas. The cheapest spots started at around €15 for 2 sunbeds and an umbrella, while more premium locations charged €30 to €40 per set. Luxury cabana-style spots could cost up to €70 per day. Almost everywhere accepted euros, so it was not necessary to exchange money into the local currency. Alternatively, you could pay in euros and receive change in the local currency (Albanian lek). On average, €1 was equivalent to about 95–96 lek.

The beaches are extremely beautiful and clean.

The beaches are extremely beautiful and clean. Renting sunbeds/umbrellas can be quite pricy. If you go in the afternoon they would charge you the same price on some beaches. Driving in Ksamil can be quite hectic. The streets are quite narrow and not all the streets have pavements and on streets where they are present either they are taken up by shops or else the people do not use the land walk in the middle of the road. Be careful if you are driving there especially during rush hour and parking is not easy. The restaurants are really good. We tried a lot of them and the food is delicious and most of them have very reasonable prices. We were always treated nicely from the staff.

The people are amazing.

The people are amazing. They are all friendly and acomodating, and almost everyone speaks great english. The food is delicious! We went to several restaurants and all the food is great. Butrint national park is a must see. Although I highly recommend going there early (before 10 AM) to get a parking spot. Otherwise you will park 1 km-2km away and walk in the sun. The infrastructure is horrible. There are too many hotels and the roads are narrow and there are no or very little sidewalks. It is dangerous to walk around with small children because in august it was filled with cars that were driving too fast on those roads. Driving inside Ksamil and between Ksamil and Saranda is a nightmare.

Beautiful beaches and nature but overcrowded. We would not come back in July or August again. September could work. Roads are crazy and cannot cope with amount of tourists. Again, could be perfect in September.

Our one-night stay at Hotel Meta in Ksamil was a wonderful experience. We would recommend much more time at this hotel- our stay was far too short with plenty to do a short drive, best beaches, incredible mesmerising sunsets and heaps of great restaurants . The family who ran the hotel were the most helpful of our 8 day Albanian holiday. Thank you to the kind and informative family. Perfect location opposite a few fabulous beaches and lots of restaurants. But still managed to be a quiet location for a good night’s sleep.

Johns guesthouse is in a lovely location with excellent views across the bay of Ksamil. It’s within easy walking distance of the town and beaches. The food was very good and great value. The chef is a great fisherman too and this made for some beautifully fresh seafood as well as traditional Albanian fare. The staff were great and made us feel very at home. I would recommend this destination for the 18-30 demographic due to the nature of the resort.

Everything was perfect. This was our second time in Ksamil so we knew the plan for the trip. It is in the end (or beggining of the Ksamil) very easy to find. Beach is very close, we had sea view. Breakfast was good, classic. Staff super friendly, like all Albania, but this was the cleanest hotel we ever stayed. Room cleaned every day, everything new, pool also cleaned every morning. Definetly recommend.

Many thanks for the best holidays ever to our host family! We were received with great hospitability. The mountain neighbouring area was calm and had a lovely cooling sea breeze in the evening. At the beach the views of Ksamil islands unforgettable! Very clean appartment with all the necessary equipement, close to the centre, but still in the quiet area of town.
