So many things to see and do, even just a wander through the small shops was fascinating. The history is also really interesting and there is a historic walk - maps available - which tells much more of the area. As well as all of this, there are wineries and other providore venues to visit.

A great place to start when you fly into Hobart.

A great place to start when you fly into Hobart. Just over 20 minutes away from the airport. This small town is packed with historic sites, shops, and eateries, and surrounded by an excellent wine region. Riversdale Estate would be top of our list! Everyone was welcoming and helpful.

Richmond was a lovely stopover, full of history and old school charm. We had a car which made it easy to get around. Richmond Bridge was beautiful, a great place to enjoy coffee and watch the ducks and time pass you by. Richmond Gaol was fascinating, reading all about the early days and life as a convict. Loads of little boutiques and cafes.

Richmond is a very pretty town and a great place to stay in, if all you want to do is relax or day trips to various natural attractions. Hobart is within arm's reach if you are driving, so need for city action can also be easily fulfilled. Being a quiet town though, food and drinks may be difficult to find after 8pm. There are great cafes and walking lanes for the daytime. My husband enjoyed playing golf in the mornings while I would walk around town. We would then take advantage of the long summer days and drive out - Eastern Coastal Drive, Mt Field National Park, Hobart MONA Museum, Bruny Island, Maria Island etc.

Richmond, Tasmania, is a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts, architecture lovers, and anyone seeking a picturesque and peaceful escape. The town’s well-preserved Georgian architecture, historic landmarks, and local attractions make it a unique and enriching experience. We have visited Richmond several times and it never disappoints. Richmond Botanical Co, opposite the maize, is our favourite shop. Richmond Botanicals Co. supplies a range of unique luxury Tasmanian giftware, including hand poured Tasmanian inspired Botanical soy candles, skin care products and much more.

Richmond is a very pretty convict town and easy to walk to all the sights and very quaint shops. We were limited to only one place to eat mid-week the Richmond Arms Hotel. Richmond is only 18 minutes to the airport for a very easy hire car drop off.

This property is pure magic. There are two units and we have stayed in both of them. They are superbly appointed with some lovely little touches and a wonderful breakfast, beautifully presented, delivered to your unit each morning. Richmond is a beautiful place brimming with history and Mulberry Cottages have a wonderful story themselves. This is one of the best b&b’s we have ever stayed in and I would highly recommend it. Don’t miss Maureen’s delicious blueberry pancakes for breakfast!!

Beautiful brand new tiny house in a stunning location, on Melissa and Greg’s property overlooking Richmond. Everything you need and more for a comfortable stay. There is something really special here. If you get the chance to book a stay I strongly suggest you go for it. My highlights were watching the wallabies go by, the beautiful view, the solitude and peace, the lovely lounge space and very comfortable mattress and pillows.

Richmond is a great Tasmanian country location with lots to see do and enjoy. The renowned Richmond Bridge gives great visual enjoyment with adjoining walking tracks that take you straight down the main street past bakeries, eateries and of course the local Hotel which has great weekly specials to curb the hunger pains
