We visited during the annual festival of flowers. Gardens are lovely. There's also interesting things to do for train enthusiasts. Plenty of shopping and dining options without the stampede of big cities. I was pleasantly surprized by the amount of green spaces and parks. We wandered around Queen's Gardens at dusk and enjoyed gorgeous floral displays and sight of Toowoombians enjoying the park. Afterwards discovered great Middle Eastern restaurant: El Attar Middle Eastern Grill. Food size was ample, value was good and flavours were fantastic - best we have had after 1 month of travelling in Australia, Brisbane to Port Douglas and back, some in higher end restaurants. The restaurant is casual, staff are friendly and as said, the food was phenomenal. Beautiful old city full of nature strips and historical architecture. Being one of the largest regional cities in Queensland, the facilities in town are fantastic. A very interesting and multi-cultural town with a diverse range of restaurants, cafes, supermarkets and shops, a very large country town that also hosts a wonderful flower show mid-September. Also an amazing new airport just out of town called Wellcamp indicates this is an elevated - go ahead - rural town with some lovely real estate features, great schools and landmark views over the Lockyer Valley. In fact the other "table land towns" Dalby, Warwick, Stanthorpe and many. many more provide a great insight into rural Australia. Such a pretty city the parks are indescribably beautiful. Plenty to do plenty to explore. Don't miss the art gallery and its collections. We travel to Toowoomba each year for the annual Carnival of Flowers. Our hotel was easy walking distance to the gardens. Always a lovely experience to see the flowers in bloom, and our visits include Queen's Park, the Markets nearby and also Laurel Bank Park is a must for the tulips. It was raining very heavily on arrival and having the undercover area at the front entry saved us and our luggage getting wet when unloading. The owners were happy to reimburse us for purchasing pickle ball bats and balls so both tennis and pickle ball can be played on the tennis court. Great location also.
