Although Freeport is not the same since the hurricane, you can see they are making an effort to cater to tourists at the hotels/resorts. During this stay at Lighthouse Pointe at Lucayan Grand Bahama - All Inclusive from July 22nd to July 28th, 2025, every person we encountered was professional, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The island is still a beautiful place to relax and enjoy solitude.

Freeporters are very friendly and if you are looking for a stay in a place that is safe, and free from razmatazz (mostly!), with wonderful beaches, and no crowds, then this is the place to come. My only quibble are the airport transfer times from the UK via Nassau. On my return journey, I was waiting for 7.5 hours at Nassau Intl Airport with nowhere to leave my bags (BA would not take my bags until check-in opened), so instead of going into town and spend some money in the local economy, I was stuck in the Airport! That will probably prevent me ever returning through Nassau.

I love the Bahamas and Freeport is one of our favorite places to visit. It is remote while also having everything you need to have a great stay. We have visited many of the outlying beaches that are less visited, and they never disappoint. Most of the time, we have the whole beach to ourselves. Somewhat disappointed that Carnival is building their cruise key on Freeport, but we shall see how it changes things.

I enjoy peaceful environment and Bahamian people.

I enjoy peaceful environment and Bahamian people. Even though they are making minimum wage and can barely Oxford to make ends meet in the face of adversity the have a joyful spirit and a warm smile on their faces.

Freeport is very quiet and calm place.

Freeport is very quiet and calm place. You will feel they’re like in the small village, far from the city. Many beautiful beaches where you can be totally alone. If you want to explore the island, definitely you will need to rent a car, there are not many taxi services in the city. Also be prepared, that there are not many bars or restaurants and the shops (grocery stores) are opened until 8pm during the week days

Freeport is not very interesting from a touristic point of view. It provides major opportunities for grocery shopping and dining, but lacks other shopping facilities and other sights. Freeport has been suffered from multiple hurricanes, that hurt the island very much. You can see a lot of scars everywhere.

This hotel is amazing considering the affects of storm Dorian and the impact it has had on the island. The location is exceptional the pool the sea are just amazing. Staff were welcoming and friendly. It was very quiet with day passengers from cruise ships and it was out of season. food choices for me personally were a bit limited but as the number of people arriving increased them by offering buffet options which provided more choice. However the table service meal quality in terms of presentation and heat of food were much better.

Really the hotel should be demolished the wifi only works in the lobby, the bathtub had spots and no hot water, the room smell of mole, the food took long and taste terrible, the security officer and the cook was Rude the only bright point was everyone to the front desk went above and beyond to try to help us but it's only so much they can do with a run down hotel plus no microwave was in the room ,no iron or iron board was in the room

The beach is lovely, soft white sand dotted with palms and the sea is nice too. Plenty of beach beds. The sunbeds around the pool are super comfy, although there are not enough for the amount of guests who want to use them. Staff are nice and friendly. The hotel grounds are generally pretty and the hotel buildings look nice from the outside. Breakfast was good, great selection of fresh fruit. Other meals were ok.
