The staff , esp the one who checked us in, was very warm and welcoming. We came in a bit early and we were even given a room upgrade that was ready for our early check-in. The location is perfect for harbor sunset walks, great restaurants, and bus trips and it is just a corner away from The Parliament bldg and the lake.

We enjoy Victoria so much as it is a quieter city and easy to get around, nothing is too far away. Traffic is lighter and it is just an enjoyable picturesque place to be. We enjoyed eating food from the Whole Foods buffet as we were able to pick and choose from an assortment of healthy items.

We love the cities walkability even in the rain in winter.

We love the cities walkability even in the rain in winter. We love having a hot chocolate and people watching. We love exploring Quadra Village, Oak Bay Village, James Bay Village, Cook Street and North Park Village. We love treasure hunting in the thrift stores. There are lots of great bakeries and cafes to explore. We loved the Belfry theatre in Fernwood Village. Breakfast at the Parliamentary Dining room was great. Beacon Hill park is great...as are the beaches...we love the scale of the city, everything is within walking distance for us.

On our first trip to Victoria, we were not comfortable with the many homeless people we witnessed, and this greatly affected our opinion. On our second visit we did more exploring and our view of Victoria changed for the better. Many good shops and great waterfront. The Hotel we stayed at was in a great location and my wife and I were treated very well. Breakfast was included and it was one of the best ever! A large homeless population is still troubling! Chuck

James Bay, Beacon Hill Park, Government Street and all...

James Bay, Beacon Hill Park, Government Street and all surrounding historic downtown core are destinations for tourists and travellers by providing a sense of "old European city" vibe. However, the rest of downtown still suffers from homelessness and this is something that should be prioritized by like local authorities.

We have been visiting Victoria for many years.

We have been visiting Victoria for many years. Enjoy walking around the city, water front and parks. There is so much to do and see - Butchart Gardens, Chinatown, Oak Bay and historic sites. The bus service is easy to use and the Tourist Center is a big help. Doing high tea is always fun. We always stop at Rogers Chocolates and Murchie's for tea and snack. There are so many restaurants and we try different ones each time but we always enjoy eating at Tapa Bar Bodega Poco. Enjoy Your Time In Victoria!!

Victoria is beautiful and manageable city to explore.

Victoria is beautiful and manageable city to explore. Its Parliament House, Fairmont Hotel and harbour location make it very attractive. Victoria's wildlife cruises are exceptional, the scenic flights were popular and its museum was interesting. The spectacular Butchart Gardens are nearby as is the Malahat Sky Walk and the natural beauty of Vancouver Island is easily accessible from Victoria. We found the BC public transport excellent and affordable joining up with the BC Ferries efficiently. The ferry crossing was an experience in itself! Victoria has a range of excellent restaurants Around the harbour there was quality Japanese and Italian as well as pub food and fish and chips.. A special place to go!

Pleasant and very helpful staff at reception. Our room had Tea coffee facilities in a small kitchenette with 2 double beds. If on foot (as we were) the buses into Downtown Victoria were so easy to find on Douglas Street (we paid 3dollars single fare). Also we walked and cycled the Galloping Goose Trail (just behind the hotel). Great little swimming pool too. There is also a modern Uptown shopping area just 5/10 mins walk away and a great Brunch place called Rubys in the other direction. Bike hire is nearby too. We would stay again.

We stayed at the James Bay Inn in Victoria for three nights and had a fantastic experience. The location is excellent—just a short walk to Beacon Hill Park, the Parliament buildings, and downtown. The staff were very friendly, and everything was exceptionally clean. We also appreciated the complimentary coffee and tea. The hotel has a pub and restaurant on-site, where we enjoyed some delicious burgers.

Paid a good price for a budget room in a downtown location within easy reach of Downtown Victoria, Chinatown etc. This hotel does not boast to be any more than it is, simply put it is a clean, tidy and comfortable hotel with good parking facilities within easy reach of the city center. Our room was clean and tidy and I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel which exceeded my expectations.

Really nice hostel in downtown Victoria. The staff is great, knowledgeable and also very polite. There is a bar on site and they offer a vegan meal for dinner, which is great for socialising with the other guests. There is even space to put a bike and laundry machines in the basement. The hostel seems also well maintained. The best hostel in Victoria!
