FAQs about hotels in Geneva

Gateway to the Swiss Alps

Known for its international diplomacy, Geneva is the gateway city to the Swiss Alps and contains many international organisations that lend the lake-side city a cosmopolitan flair. It is filled with the best in cuisine, diverse languages and people, and top 5-star hotels.

It's easy to fly in to Geneva Airport, and like the rest of Switzerland, the public transport system is incredibly efficient. And the antique shops and steep, cobbled streets of the Old Town can be explored by foot or bicycle.

Many of the sights are monumental buildings such as the St Pierre Cathedral, but you can escape the chilly winters inside museums and galleries displaying everything from the Renaissance to the Contemporary.

Even if getting out into the wilderness of the Swiss Alps isn’t an option, there’s plenty of nature accessible within the city limits. Parc des Bastions offers tree-lined walks and a game of giant chess and Parc de la Grange is a green space situated on the Lake Geneva promenade. Jet d'Eau, a 450 foot high fountain in the center of Lake Geneva is beautifully lit at night.

With over 90 hotels available, Booking.com ensures that whether you are travelling for business or pleasure you can experience the best accommodations Geneva has to offer.

Geneva is clean, beautiful and has extremely nice people.

Geneva is clean, beautiful and has extremely nice people. I regularly got lost lol, which gave me a lot of opportunities to talk to random people. I started even getting lost on purpose. The trains and busses are incredible and always on time. I visited this other pub which had like 100 tvs haha, incredible. On my last day, we went to McDonald's, where i had my best ever burger. Then we went to a local bar where we played games, then we closed it with a nightclub. We partied till 4 am haha, and i had to be at the airport by 6 haha...legendary last day. My only regret is that, I didnt have the chance to explore the city more. I fell in love with Geneva, and will definitely be going back in the future

I would definitely recommend Geneva. Beautiful & interesting city, walkable & lots of amazing place to visit. I recommend the Mount Saleve cable car, the panoramic view is just spectacular, a must see. Easy to get around especially with Geneva Pass provuded to visitors. Plenty of restaurants & cafes, dont firget to try the lovely chocolates either from Martel or Laderach.

Geneva is fine for a day trip there’s some nice places to visit and some beautiful photos to be taken but as the price of everything here is insanely overpriced I would recommend staying in Lyon going for the day and coming back, we spent the equivalent of €60 on 2 paninis and 2 classes of OJ and €90 on a small breakfast. Public transport is great as you can buy an all day ticket for €7 the issue as I said is the cost of day to day essentials etc

Geneva now is much more a touristic city versus some years ago. City itself has places to visit, and also is well located. In 1 hour of train trip or car driving, you can reach interesting locations around. Also, good to mention that Swiss authorities did a lot of progress in making Swiss cities safe. Police is everywhere. Some years ago was a raising big problem with French Immigrants Criminal Gangs which were stealing in Swiss boarder cities.

An absolutely wonderful weekend experience!

An absolutely wonderful weekend experience! Geneva is a really beautiful city with lots of greenery and stunning views on the lakeside. The "jardin botanique" and Parc de l'Ariana are both really peaceful places to visit, and walking along the lakeside was a very good choice (some really quiet scenic spots). The Old Town is also wonderful to explore and the climb to the top of the Saint-Pierre cathedral is well worth it for the views at the top. Lots of drinkable water fountains there too so all you need is a water bottle and you're good. So easy to get around (can literally just get on any bus, we were never asked to present a ticket but the transport card gives free transport for hotel guests anyway) and you can get around on foot to quite a lot of places. The people were all lovely too and in every shop, restaurant, museum etc. we went to, the people at the counter/waiters/basically everyone spoke English which made life really easy as a British person. Lots of good food places on Rue de Lausanne (where our hotel was and lots of others are near too). Genuinely loved the trip and my only issue was that we were there for just two days, which was enough to have a great time but would've loved to hike up the mountains too. Would 1000% recommend!

I found this quite a pleasant place to stay for a few days, it was my first visit to Switzerland. There is parking both at the back of the hotel and in the underground car park. The man at reception spoke good English and told me how to get into the centre of Geneva. The No. 6 bus leaves from opposite the hotel and will get you into the city centre by the lake in 25 minutes. The room was modern, clean and comfortable.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Crown Plaza Geneva, I had decided to stay an extra day following a ski trip with friends to Chamonix and this hotel was superb, the room was very clean and quite and the staff incredibly friendly. However, one of the best features was the free shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel every 20 minutes, this was a life saver for me and I used it several times.

Victorian style I love it so much❤️ Very nice hotel, clean and comfortable. Also, staff are very helpful. In city centre, 2mins.in city train and bus stations, you can catch the public trams just outside the hotel which is free of charge. 5-10mins.walk to the lake. Good value for money. I will recommend and would stay again! First time in Geneva, it’s beautiful🇨🇭

The hotel is very convenient for the water taxi that crosses the lake to the city centre, saving a journey that would involve catching at least twol buses. It is located in a quiet area, not far from Geneva Plage.
