We stayed close to the old town because we had enjoyed it on a previous visit and could walk there from our hotel within a few minutes. Frankfurt is great and has everything you need. There's a downside that occurs in large cities all over the world, namely the filth and disorder in the city centre, which in Frankfurt is the area around the main train station, Frankfurt (Main) Hauptbahnhof; I will never recommend anyone to stay there. You should choose a hotel in Bornheim, Westend or Enkheim instead. If you didn't bring your car you can use trains, buses and underground which are very convenient to travel. Day tickets can be purchased at ticket machines at every station. But in my experience, there have been days when the ticket machines were unavailable. I love the historic buildings and cathedrals. I also love the view, the areas we walked along the river, the stores and market we visited along the way. I loved the food we tried. The people in the stores and market were nice. The people in the train station were not very helpful. This is not a tourist city, and so it doesn't offer much attractions or things to do but there was still enough to fill up three days. Frankfurt is so much more than a financial hub. A vibrant city and Rich in culture and the arts. An abundance of lively cafes and bars There is a stunning Botanical Gardens in Palmengarten - a green oasis in the middle of the city and well worth a visit.
