We stayed in a delux room, it was really nice and the beds and pillows were very comfortable, best nights sleep of our whole trip. The staff were all very friendly and efficient and happily accommodated my daughter’s gluten free breakfast request even though we were a last minute booking.

Visited the Meckenheim for a business trip, and the location was great. It is near the train station only about 5~10 minutes walk. The breakfast the hotel provides was one of the best breakfast I had among the hotels I visited in Europe. There are supermarkets nearby providing convenience to the daily needs in travelling.

We went on bike tours.

We went on bike tours. Meckenheim offers ample cycle paths, including several "apple routes," which are also well signposted. The selection of restaurants and cafes in the evening was adequate, but could be better. In the afternoon, the only options for a post-ride meal were cafes or fast-food restaurants. Regular restaurants and cafes weren't open until 5 pm.

Meckenheim is known for its fruit growing and the Grafschafter sugar beet syrup. Part of the Apple Route also runs through Meckenheim, which is perfect for cycling. In the surrounding area, a side trip to Bad Münstereifel and the Ahr Valley is also worthwhile. It's a truly beautiful region with charming old towns.

The room was very large and clean, the bathroom wonderfully warm and clean. Unfortunately, the internet wasn't always available. The breakfast buffet was varied and very good. Unfortunately, the restaurant wasn't open; it might even be completely closed. There was plenty of parking available, and the location was quiet even though it's near the main road.

I didn't stay at the City Hotel to get to know Meckenheim, but because I had a workshop appointment at Wunderlich in Grafschaft/Ringen. Therefore, I can't form an opinion about Meckenheim.
