Lovely little hotel right in the center of Mundo. The main living and dining area is open to the incredible garden in the back with feeders for birds and hummingbird feeders and you can hear the the fast flowing River. Our hostess Margarita was wonderful as were all her staff. The breakfasts were excellent with lots of choices and we ate all three dinners there. Our room was large. The beds were great as was the bathroom with lots of hot water. With Margarita's help e were able to do a fabulous bird watching tour as well as go on our own via taxi to the butterfly center and a place to watch hummingbirds and have them feed right out of your hand. It rains a lot in Mindo at least at the end of November, so be prepared with waterproof jackets and warm clothing. We were able to borrow umbrellas and a hair dryer which really helped. Margarita also arranged for an excellent driver to take us back to Quito.

Every day there was a delicious cooked breakfast. I stayed 5 days and every day the breakfast was different! The dining room has a panoramic view of the river and forest. The sites of Mindo are quick walk away. Dont forget to sample the rich dark chocolate while here!

The stay at Mindo Bird Lodge was excellent. The room may not have been 5 star, but it was comfortable and close to the action. The birds are all around. you can sit under cover and have birds fly right by you. Thev private waterfall is incedible - you feel like you are the only one to have ever been there. Such a great place.

We stayed at Temple II for a little over two weeks, and it was such a treat. The room was cozy, warm and comfortable. And the big covered balcony was a dream to have, spending quiet mornings on the couch watching the local hummingbirds and agouti. The location is a short walk from town, giving you a quiet place to rest in nature. Would absolutely a recommend here.

Hiking in the cloud forest was a special experience. The Cascadas de Nambillo, the Butterly Garden , the birding tour with Marcelo Arias - were all great opportunity to understand local flora and fauna and having a lot of fun.

Mindo is a great little town, and can arrange lots of activities directly in Mindo. I wish we'd have had more time to explore the town, but we were here just for a birdwatching tour -- which was simply amazing!

We very much enjoyed our two days in Mindo.

We very much enjoyed our two days in Mindo. Another day, would have been enjoyable, but we were able to hike through the cloud forest to visit six of the seven waterfalls and enjoyed our time at the butterfly refuge and hummingbird garden on our first day. On our second day, we greatly enjoyed our birding tour and on our way back to Quito had time to stop by Al Mitad del Mundo.

Mindo is in a beautiful area with great opportunities for hiking. We enjoyed the Butterfly farm and the Maya Chocolate demonstration, and had a great meal at a tiny family run restaurant called Persian House.

I chose to head to Mindo instead of staying in the city of...

I chose to head to Mindo instead of staying in the city of Quito as I wanted a place to relax and recoup from my long haul flight and get ready for my Galapagos Experience. It was everything I wanted, I felt safe and had options for dining without having to get taxi’s around. The bird life was amazing and I loved the cloud forest environment.

Mindo has a lot of wonderful nature options. Feeding hummingbirds, the BEST butterfly gardens we have ever visited and we have been to many & really good bird watching - we used Sandra & Romelly at Bird Paradaisio (sp) & had alot of fun & Romelly drove us back safely to Quito but took us on an extra bird sighting trip on the way that was super - wonderful too! The trails to the waterfalls was a lot of fun & the falls are worth the trek although these out of shape older folks didn't make it to them all. The chocolate tour at Yumbos led by Amir was wonderful! We enjoyed both the tarabita & telerifico rides although the last was a bit scary, terrific views! Prices for everything was very reasonable, food may be a bit higher than rest of Ecuador but not too bad. Limited options though as most menus looked almost the same. One place we would definitely come back to. Only the food options were a little lacking. Everything else was fun & it was nice to be out of big cities.

Beautiful premise, very well maintained. The rooms are spacious with good beds (the best we had on our entire trip in Ecuador) and a fine shower. There's a beautiful garden and even a swimming pool. Breakfast is in a seperate building and is delicious, also the best we had this trip. Owner and personel is very friendly and nice. The location is just outside the center and very quiet. We would definitely stay here again, when in Mindo.

The hospitality was remarkable. The owner took his time to tell me about the birds that come to the backyard, showed me a picture book so I could search and learn about them and set up a feeding station (all after I said birds were my priority for visiting Mindo). He did have all kinds of information to share about other activities. Breakfast was fresh and tasty. Kitchen was well equiped.

Nice room with good hot water shower in a good location to access everything in Mindo. It is a short walk from the main bus stop. It was quiet when we were there and you can hear the river and see birds/butterflies from the room.

Beautiful little hostel, great place to relax in peace but still be near to the centre of Mindo. Rooms small but cute and clean, communal areas really nice including small kitchen.
