Incredible new refurbishment designed in a fashion that integrates very nicely with the old building. Spacious suites, nice rooftop, beautiful garden. Private restaurant has a unique atmosphere and a lengthy wine card. The beds were very comfy too! Unique location on top of the hill with a beautiful view on La Rioja!

The location on the river is incredible. The room was big and modern. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Food and service in the restaurant was very good. The patio overlooking the river is a wonderful place to relax, read, have a drink. The cellar/bodega which is probably 400 years old is worth seeing.

We love staying in Arrope. The hotel is lovely and the staff are great. We had a splendid dinner in the restaurant on both nights and travelled to the Plaza to buy wine and met a very nice guy who was good friends with our receptionist.

    It is a medieval hilltop village in the middle of the Rioja region. Very quaint. The views across all the vineyards are stunning and Vivanco Wine museum is very nearby. It’s fascinating and has been listed by UNESCO as the largest in Europe. The Santa Maria is a beautiful hotel with an excellent restaurant. Two days is enough to get the best out of Briones.

    Lovely quaint town that instantly brought a sense of calmness, we couldn’t help but feel relaxed. The cafes and restaurants all had a great selection of pinxtos and we had a fantastic dinner in Asador los Nietos on one evening. Briones is a good place to base yourself to tour the wineries but there are also plenty of bodegas in the town, we happened to arrive when a festival was taking place and visited 5 bodegas each with their own tasting seminar. There was live music in the square that evening also and a great buzz about the place. The locals were all friendly and welcoming despite our Spanish not being very good!

    Hotel Santa Maria Briones is beautifully stylish and every comfort has been considered, attention to detail is second to none. The staff are wonderful. They really want you to have the best stay possible, make recommendations on the local area and make every little arrangement for you from restaurant and taxi bookings to planning a whole day out. Nothing is too much trouble. The restaurant is divine and should surely have a Michelin star soon

    The hotel was very pleasant and clean, the light verbena scent was very relaxing and not overwhelming. The staff was very helpful and kind and breakfast was diverse and fresh. We also liked the village itself and hanging around it. It is very beautiful and calm, although there are not many attractions in the village itself. We really enjoyed the nearby town of Logroño, the food and drinks there were superb!
