La Hiruela is a charming little village that's best reached by car, though we managed just fine taking a bus from Madrid to Buitrago de Lozoya and then a shuttle to the village. It was peaceful and quiet in the spring—perfect timing, as I’ve heard it gets quite busy in summer. We loved visiting the old church dedicated to Saint Michael, and I picked up a delicious jar of local honey—the area is known for its many apiaries. A lovely spot for a relaxing escape into nature and tradition.
