I had a wonderful stay! The accommodation was fantastic, and the host was incredibly friendly and helpful. Everything was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant and welcoming place to stay!

I had a wonderful two-day stay in Lalibela. My room looked at the valley and mountains. The owner of the hotel is very interested. He was there every time I needed it and he immediately met my needs. Hot water, internet, comfortable beds, warm welcome, great breakfast and smiling face. I hope I come back

My stay in Top Twelve Hotel was memorable. The hotel is located along a cliff offering the best view on the valley and outstanding sunsets. The breakfast on the terrace was tasty with home brewed Ethiopian coffee, omelet, local bread and honey. The hotel is warmly decorated with local colours and furniture.  My room was spacious with a private balcony and soothing view. The room was quiet, bed was comfortable, water pressure was not great but enough to shower with continous hot water. The hotel is at walking distance  from the outstanding Ben Abeba restaurant. Dawit and Yordanos are very nice and responsive hosts. They did their best to make my stay memorable, including the organisation of private guided tours in Lalibela and around.

Great value within 10 minutes of all the churches. Quiet stay. I hadn't booked anything in advance, but they came to pick me up at the airport to my surprise and helped me coordinate everything. I would definitely suggest staying here for a more authentic experience.

Great hospitality and comfortable accommodation. Especially what makes unique Red Rock Lalibela hotel is it is only 5mints walking distance from lalibela Rockhewn churches even you can see the churches and the Saturday big market from the hotel balcony, highly recommend place for middle class tourists.!! Lalibela is a historically interesting place, but the experience was compromised for me by the $100 per person entry fee for foreigners (not including any guide), which was offensive after I have spent >9 years living and working in the country carrying out development initiatives. If you are not a resident of Ethiopia you also will pay 2.5-fold more for flights from Addis Ababa, although Ethiopian Airlines recognizes residence permit holders as residents unlike Lalibela churches. Also there are unpredictable security concerns, and swarms of people trying to get money from me and calling out at me anytime I am not inside the buildings. The rest of my family was less concerned than me about these things. 24 hours is enough to see the churches. The Museum can be seen in 10 minutes or less.

Absolutely fantastic place to visit in Ethiopia!

Absolutely fantastic place to visit in Ethiopia! Rock-hewn churches are much more impressive than the photos show. Standing in front of them and entering them give us a memorable experience, especially on Sunday ceremony time when locals are gathering and praying. The Saturday market is also amazing place to visit, when local people come from nearby villages and countryside and sell various kinds of products.

Try to prepay if you can sometimes the credit card machine is not working. In fact more often it is not especially if you use Amex. If I can do over pay for the rooms and pay for misc charges with pocket money.

One of the most astonishing historical places to visit,...

One of the most astonishing historical places to visit, right neck to neck with Petra. Plus it is very safe and people is friendly. Also, there is plenty you can do outdoors, so COVID should not be a concern. Hope to see people coming back to Lalibela soon!

Lalibela is a must-see for visitors to Ethiopia.

Lalibela is a must-see for visitors to Ethiopia. The culture, the landscape, and the people are all worth experiencing. We recommend a 3-night stay, as you absolutely must do a hike and need enough time to explore the rock-hewn churches.
