The Compasses Inn is a gem that we coincidentally found after visiting Stonehenge. Off the beaten track but very worthwhile to visit and stay. The originally 14th century inn has a dark brown pub that serves locally sourced food. The rooms are pleasantly modern, fitting the ancient building and with natural materials. Absolutely nice! Staff is very friendly, breakfast tasty, according to your preference (vegetarian in our case). Considering all of this, the price was more than reasonable. Very recommendable!

Excellent location, farmhouse in a peaceful hamlet surrounded by trees and bushes while close to major sights. Debbie was a wonderful host. Lavish breakfasts. Bathroom is a few meters away across the corridor, not en-suite, but you have basically the whole floor for yourselves and we felt perfect privacy all the time. It way like a stay in 2nd home to us. The room was immaculate. It is small so would be cosy for a couple but certainly perfect as a solo traveller. I couldn’t fault Jess and Steve who offered a really warm welcome and were happy to help with any queries throughout my stay. The local pub, The Royal Oak, is only a 5 minute walk away and a great place for drinks or food as you need.

    Peaceful village off the main road. Lovely inn, great food, excellent interior with lots of top quality light oak wooden beams, recently updated. Very comfortable bedroom and en suite shower room. Wonderful place to relax and enjoy.
