The Auckland Project and Bishops Palace was excellent and exceeded our expectations! Surprised and impressed by how fascinating it was to look around the Palace and the Faith Museum which is located in one wing. The volunteers are marvellous, so knowledgeable, interesting and enthusiastic! Spent a very worthwhile three and a half hours there and would definitely recommend.

Run down was probably what I will remember of this place.

Run down was probably what I will remember of this place. Funny enough the city cemetery was probably one of the most peaceful places to be. Lovely trees and walking areas. Would recommend that as a place to visit.

Wonderful galleries and palace and walled garden and went to kynren on Saturday which I would strongly recommend . Nice tapas restaurant and several good cafes. Walking distance from our house but there was a good bus service too

The improvements to Bishop Aukland are excellent.

The improvements to Bishop Aukland are excellent. I remember it from 20 years ago and the new facilities for visitors are very welcome. Kynren is brilliant and deserves much wider recognition. After ten years most people in other parts of the country still have not heard about it. This should be an internationally acclaimed event!!!

We stayed in Bishop Auckland in order to visit the Bishops palace and we weren't disappointed. The town itself is small and looking a little rundown in areas with lots of closed shops. We didn't have any trouble parking in the carparks and the price was reasonable for the location. £4 for all day. We didn't visit any of the other Auckland project attractions as we were on our way home but if they are probably worth a visit.

We traveled to Bishop Aukland specifically to visit the Bishop's Palace and the Spanish Gallery, which did not disappoint The town has seen better days and is frankly a bit of a dump: its centre streets have been hollowed out by out of town retail parks.

Outstanding welcome by all staff. Everyone we met was welcoming, friendly and willing to share their experiences of this hotel. It is a long time since I have stayed in such an amazing and atmospheric location. A bit creaky in places added to the charm of this 15th century listed building. We would normally stayed in a national chain Inn but was attracted initially by the price and value. All I can say is I am glad we chose to be a bit more adventurous.

Very comfortable 2 bedroom house near the centre of Bishop Auckland. Property was warm and comfortable with good kitchen facilities. Bed was very comfortable and the street was quiet at night so we had good nights sleep. 5 Minutes drive away from Bishop Auckland Golf Club which we would highly recommend visiting.

Very pleased with the flat, it was central to the attractive area around the Bishops palace and had all the essential things you need for a short stay. Any initial issues were dealt with speedily by the host and I will definitely rebook next time I need to be in Bishop Auckland.

Nicer than Premier Inn or other chain hotels, particularly to have your own kitchen and fridge, microwave, air fryer and kettle. All very glossy and clean with soft carpet, we were really pleased with our stay, thank-you!

Locally run hotel, part of the Auckland Project. Friendly staff. Semi-rural location on the edge of Bishop Auckland, but easily accessible on Durham-Bishop Auckland bus route. Basic, comfortable. Good food.
