I found myself very welcome by Ellie and the house is super comfy! The breakfast was so tasty and home cooked! I had a very pleasant stay, relaxing. A lovely proper country pub with rooms. In a perfect quiet location. The bed was better than a lot of 5 star hotels we have stayed in, so comfortable. Our room was spacious , very clean and we had a great view of the countryside. Breakfast was great too.

I booked out this hotel for family and friends to stay in following my wedding. The hotel staff were incredibly helpful in the booking process and did everything they could to ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible. The hotel only offered continental breakfast, but given that we had booked out the whole hotel, they agreed to do a hot breakfast on a pre-order, which was fantastic! Our family and friends also enjoyed the restaurant and bar the evening before, both areas of which are nicely designed and have a nice ambience. Some of the rooms are quite old-fashioned in terms of aesthetics, but The Lansdowne is such an old hotel, and the majority of the hotel has been recently refurbished. This also didn't impact the level of cleanliness and the quality of service, which was great. Also don't be put off by the lack of parking as there is a big car park nearby you can pay and display at, and it's very reasonable. Would recommend The Lansdowne to all looking to stay in Calne!

Lovely quiet location. Hotel was exceptionally clean and inviting . Room was very comfortable as was the bed. Service on the rooms was punctual and well organised. Nice spa and pool area overlooking the grounds of the practice range. Breakfast delicious and restaurant fare of high quality.

Lovely friendly staff & management, very hospitable, felt like they genuinely wanted us to be as comfortable as possible & enjoy our stay. The food, decor, vibe & cleanliness all v good (& the shower better than ours at home). Feels like a lot of heart goes into this hotel. Will deffo return If back in that area in future.

    We stayed in Sprithill, which is just outside Calne. We did not go to Calne beyond using the supermarket. The accommodation was used as a base to visit Bath, Cherhill, Avebury, Lacock and Bourton on the Water.

    The Lansdown Strand was a great place to stay. Friendly, cosy and relaxing, in the centre of town. The surrounding shops and structures were situated on a hill yet seemed very accessible. No parking at the hotel and all side roads were double yellow lines or resident parking. The car park was no more than a three minute walk from the hotel, no free parking as part of hotel. The centre was well lit and had seating areas by the library. I will visit again.

    A small but interesting historic area if you step away from the A4 road. Good quality local museum. Worth an hour or two of your time if you like exploring country towns: just stay away from the major roads!

    If you look around Calne you will find a great and healthy atmosphere with people willing to talk and invite you to experience a part of Wiltshire.It is small and quaint ,with no problems of a big town but enough to see on a visit for a few days.Antient history and walks a museum of the locals and there past and the chance to take in the local atmosphere of those chalk hills .

    Town is nice you can walk around the Calne . Running in the morning is perfect weather for good not to much traffic. People in the Calne are cute, kindness , easy to smile. The chapel has many places worth visiting.

    We loved everything about our stay! Ellie was very welcoming and made us feel very comfortable. We had the kingsize room which was lovely, all very clean and the bathroom was modern and the shower amazing !! Ellie cooked us a delicious full English for breakfast the next morning with lots of home made sourdough toast which was the best ! We would won't hesitate to book here again when visiting family in Calne and Corsham. Thank you so much for making our stay really great. xx

    Lovely genuine warm welcome from Gwyneth and her little dog Daisy. Our room was clean and comfortable with an en-suite shower/wet room, a small TV, plenty of storage and comfy bed. The mini fridge was a nice touch and we were offered fresh milk for our tea in the morning rather than those silly cartons. After a good nights sleep breakfast was delicious with great coffee. House is set in a nice quiet and safe street 15 mins walk from the centre of Calne.
