Stayed overnight after cancelled flight at Gatwick. Arrived at 11pm and the guy on receiption was very professional. He booked us in quickly, explained breakfast and also helped us with onward travel arrangements. The breakfast was excellent - chef prepared crispy bacon just how I like it. As we left the breakfast room the same guy was coming on reception desk and he organised a taxi to the train station. Friendly staff and great for golfers and racecourse users. Good swimming pool and convenient parking. Rooms are tired and dated and the double beds were uncomfortable for two people. The room was very clean as was the bathroom. Check in was quick and friendly. The food in the Restaurant was excellent and the staff helpful and friendly without going over the top. Because there was nobody at the front desk I had to phone the hotel to inform them that the one light bulb in the bathroom did not work, the tap in the bathroom did not work properly and the basin did not drain properly BUT they did nothing about it. Friendly staff, food at lunch was good and plenty of it. Within easy walking distance to Lingfield Park. We stayed the night and had a drink in the bar upon our return that evening. Very friendly. Rooms were ok. The one we stayed in was in need of a bit of tlc but comfortable enough and clean for one night. Breakfast was cooked to order and very nice.
