A great, atmospheric hotel that feels historic but with modern facilities.

City with a dated shopping centre and lots of restaurants but not much more. Cathedral and grounds, museum and Cathedral Square well worth visiting. Lots of old buildings but lots of rubbish, streets were grubby and littered!

Peterborough came across as poor and unloved.
Peterborough came across as poor and unloved.
I walked through the centre of town on a Wednesday night around 10:30 and did not feel safe - not normally affected like this.
There are groups of homeless people around the town, not necessarily bothering people but they need support and shouldn’t be left to roam the streets. Far more homeless here than anywhere I visited recently.
This was a work visit, I would not visit for pleasure

Beautiful cathedral, nice new shopping centre. The rest of the town a bit run down, many homeless people....
We should have gone for a curry instead of having dinner at the bull....

Peterborough not the best city in the world, but a few shops to mooch about it, and plenty of places to eat and drink. Mum and I took a trip to the cinema. Was nice. This hotel IS NOT in the town centre. Its a little drive. But that is what we wanted.

Cathedral area well worth a visit.
Cathedral area well worth a visit.
Nene Park area lovely with good flat walking and nice refreshments available. Excellent pitch n putt course.
Nene valley railway station at Peterborough worth a visit to eco garden area.
Plus train trips.
Flag fen on outskirts is definitely worth a look, really interesting and a nice walk too.
Like all cities there are some less charming areas! But some good cafes in town, Gossip good coffee and Fratellis in Rivergate for coffee and breakfast. Oh and East on the river for Asian fusion food and to sit in a boat!
The location of the hotel, being out of town, is good for those not looking to be in the city centre.
Free parking makes it an ideal location for those looking to drive/taxi into the town.
The room and public spaces were very clean and tidy.
The leisure centre was good, and one of the reasons for choosing this hotel and why I would stay again.
Breakfast was good with a lot of options, and the chef was accommodating of veggie requests, staff working very hard to keep breakfast items replenished and guests seated as soon as possible.
We hired a fully serviced apartment with all modern amenities. Everything was new and clean. The apartment was huge and we felt very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful and everyone one was smiling. We felt welcome. We got a 2 bedroom spacious apartment with all the appliances you need for the price of a hotel room! Exceptional value for money and the location was very nice and scenic. We will definitely be staying here again on our next visit to Peterborough.
Scones and tea in the sunny courtyard made a lovely end to our drive : a chance to unwind. Dinner was casual but very good: arrived quickly and was very tasty. Everything about the hotel made it an excellent choice for travellers wishing to break a long journey north. Very accessible for A1. Genuinely old and characterful. Friendly, efficient service; warm and welcoming hospitality. The travellers' rest.
Location was perfect, hotel easy to find, and convenient to major roads into Peterborough, but without this causing an issue for noise. Staff very welcoming and helpful. first appearances inside the hotel and grounds very good. I was a little concerned that there was a festival at a nearby venue on one of the nights of my stay. But that finished at 10:00 pm, so i was not disturbed during my stay.
We regularly have weekends away and are always trying new locations. The Queensgate is perfectly within walking distance of Peterborough town centre. Loads of hospitality places within walking distance. The majestic Cathedral less than 3/4 mile away. The beautiful River Neen several hundred yards away and has food and beverage on the bankside. We will return.
Very friendly staff, since I do not like living on the upper floors, and the administrator very quickly solved this problem: she changed my room to a lower floor.
Very comfortable mattress, I slept well. The very center of the city, near the train station, restaurants and much more. The price is three times lower than the same hotels in this area.
This place is amazing!
The hosts, Mr. Tapas and Hennie, are very friendly, nice and extremely helpful. They made my stay there comfortable.
The place is clean and it gets cleaned regularly.
It is a cozy house in a quiet neighborhood with a shopping area nearby and not far away from the city centre.
Highly recommended
They let a stalker come to my room and also gave him my room keys cause he could say my name.I am lucky the key didnt work if not i could have been dead or I could have been hurt people beware this hotel isn't safe.Peterborough clos etc Shell fuelling station
Spotlessly clean with lovely staff and an excellent bar/restaurant. The location is really nice and very accessible. I’d normally pay double for such an hotel so if you ever visit Peterborough, do yourself a favour and check in here.
Firstly I'd like to say the evening meal and breakfast and the level of service for both meals was delicious.
I am originally from Peterborough and always stay at the hotel whenever I visit. But I will not be staying there again.
Friendly staff that was always helpful. The place was clean . The room was clean, and maids were in to do the room daily. On the whole, a pleasant stay and good value for money.
Will be booking for my next stay to peterborough.
Room temperature was freezing with the out side temperature was minus 8 on 21st January, also bed smell in the room from the carpet or smoking even though hotel is non smoking
Very uncomfortable mattress
Lovely spacious room, tastefully decorated, elegant and refined. From check in to check out all staff we encountered were exceptionally gracious. We really enjoyed the old fashioned grand hotel ambiance.
Stayed in Room 10 , lovley room ,well presented, clean and lots of tea and coffee.
Always use this hotel when in Peterborough not had a bad experience.
Value for money is exceptional.
The staff were very welcoming and the hotel had a family feel. The rooms were comfortable and the food was tasty. The bar served ice cold cider on the hot summer evenings,
The location was about 25mins from where I needed to be in Peterborough but the rate was better than town hotels. Good sized room clean. Plenty of parking
