We weren't there long enough to really get to know the village (town?) but it looked as if there were some interesting walks for the dogs, an interesting river,birdwatching oportunities etc, and quite a few pubs for a place that size! Always a good shout. The cathedral was very interesting and if you get the chance to take communion there you are made most welcome. Good choice of eating places, main meals or just coffee/tea and cakes. Exceptional value for money with a well equiped and clean room with a very comfortable bed. Staff were friendly and efficient and when checking in, the gentleman told me about the Ripon hornblower at 9pm in the Market Place outside the front of the hotel, a spectacle not to be missed.
